You're not alone (viewing photos)

I tried viewing the customized Bambi photos in three browsers on my Mac. No go.
I wonder if there's another way to see them?

thanks for the link

I could not access any photo link drop down menu or in the post either. IE on XP. VERY HOMEY! Love the textures and color, really a comfortable posh pad.

Thanks

Carol,
It is always nice to hear that others appreciate the result of lots of hard work. Everyone that sees our Bambi always asks the same question..why can't A/S do this instead of the those bland factory interiors.

Thanks again,
David

David,
Excellent results on your interior`
I suspect if the factory did that amount of extras...We'd never be able to afford it..At least, not at the price you paid..

Hensley and Custom Work

We have had a Hensley hitch on our 2002 19' Bambi since we bought it new in 2002. We went that route for many of the reasons mentioned by others and have had absolutely NO regrets. We originally viewed it a little like an insurance policy which would protect in a difficult situation, but it has made our towing at all times a pleasure.

We have made a number of changes to the interior which have improved functionality and appearance and one photo is attached. Included are a larger sink with a larger, round countertop; an additional drawer; all drawers on full-extension glides; an attractive, round-edged, stainless-steel range hood; a laminate covered range cover; magazine and book storage above the front and rear upper cabinets; all rough edge-banding smoothed; and a relocated showerhead. Having done the work, we agree completely with the reply which suggests that Airstream could not afford to put this much into the trailer and still sell it for a reasonable price.

Tim A.-

Nice work! Were you able to find the stove hood off the shelf, or is it custom? I have a 2001 Bambi and have put in wood floors and upgraded entertainment stuff, but the 'galley' is my next project.

Tim, also did you notice that you posted to a thread that hasn't had a response in over a year? I found that I did that a few times and got a chuckle out of it. I started creating threads if I needed to because there was so little activity in this sub-forum.

Happy Trails!

David,

Over the past several years, we’ve said: next year we’ll get rid of the grandmother interior, only that year never comes, we just keep living with it

Talking to you and seeing your examples have given us ideas and renewed confidence! Our makeover year has come; we have stripped the furniture in the lounge, dining room, carpet and the valances. It already looks better!

Pictures of original interior are already on the site, the “after” photos should be posted at the end of April.

Thanks for the inspiration

JB

Geosouth,

Most of the changes have been my own work, including the hood. One off the shelf would have been nice. The under surface is flat and easy to keep clean, two led lights have glass lenses, and the fan is variable speed. The result is somewhat heavier than the standard hoods, but not so much that I wanted to give it a second try.

Yes, I noticed that the thread was inactive, but what I posted seemed to fit here. Perhaps if I would visit the forum more often, I would not lag so far behind!
