Second Battery

I went with a over under plan for a second battery on a 2001 Safari 27. Matched the box, drilled a few more small holes in the top of the bottom box. Screwed the top and bottom together so they interlock. Took a 1 1/2 by 3 foot piece of aluminum from the hardware store. Formed it over the top battery and down the sides. Drilled holes at the end for 8 inch hookes with wind nuts. drilled a center hole in the battery support and the 2 batteries are out of site. It is a pain to check the water on the bottom battery but they work fine.

Can you attach a picture to your post? It would be interesting to see.

additional battery

Sounds interesting!

I have a 2 battery setup (original) with one on each side of the front of the TT behind the couch on my 25'

Is yours the same setup but with just one battery?

I guess to change / check the TOP battery in your addition, it has to be done from the inside, right? Also is the venting done thru the bottom of the top battery to the original (which is vented from the access door)?

I think in mine the space above the 1st battery has a wood cover separating the batt/converter area from the living area. That would mean mine would protrude up into the living area.

A picture would help. Since you are new posting, do you need some help in posting up a pic? Others are experienced in this.

over under battery on 1999 and up Safari's

My earlier over under battery set up was referring to newer Safari models that have a single exterior mounted battery behind the gas bottles and not the traditional Excella type battery set up with a built in door and drawer to put the battery inside the trailer.

Oh.... I see. I haven't seen the 'outside' battery setup. Now I understand. I've seen someone else put a Honda 2000ei there on the tongue. I need to see how the newer Safari's are set up.

Question Sav'h Steve

Do you remember where you saw the one with the EU2000i mounted over the battery? I think I Santa is going to bring me one for Xmas. I would like to add another to it in the spring hooked together to run my A/C. I have seen pics. of a EU3000i mounted on a Bambi. Thanks
