Vin number location

Hello, i'm new here. I am looking into buying a 1966 safari trailer but it does not have a vin number next to the entrance door. We have looked on the hitch all over and nothing. Where else would the vin # be. If you have pictures please post them.

That’s a tough one. If it still has the original walls and cabinets inside, you may get lucky. When we renovated our 66, the original cabinet guys had the VIN hand written on some of the rails and styles out of sight. Almost like the wood working guys labeled the cabinetry for a specific trailer in production. Good luck, Bubba

1966 has a serial number, not a "vin"

1966 serial number examples....

J0266124 JI286824 S0226534 SI246158

1ST Position S (California) J (Jackson Center, OH.)

2nd Position I (International Model) O (Overlander, Land Yacht Model)

3rd & 4th Position Length (22 = Safari)

5th Position Model Year (6 =1966)

6, 7, 8th Position Sequential Production Model. (Over 500 Double Bed, Under 500 Twin bed.

Look for a number like JO226123. Same as number on title.

Some say that it can be found on the tongue/A-frame, but I scoured my '68 tongue area and didn't find it.

If it's not on the plate by door, you may not find it.

We have 1999 and have a plate on the driver's side but there is a paper sticker inside a closet in the trailer with the info.

Thank you Bubba L, but the plate next to the entrance door is missing. We scraped the A Frame almost down to the metal and nothing. We did find some numbers stamped on the A Frame but we don't think they are the serial number. This are the numbers: FD6 - 22C - K, do you what they mean?
