AS Safari VIN

Hi, to all. I'm a new member and am in the process of acquiring an Airstream. I've joined for a couple of reasons. First, the incredible group of Airstreamers willing to share and help. Second, this is an astounding forum for research, history, knowledge and a myriad of other resources for those of us becoming a part of the AS lifestyle. I say thank you to the individuals that began this forum and those that keep it going at such a high level.

I am considering purchasing a 1968 Safari 22'. I am having it completely inspected by a reputable RV dealer prior to purchase. The current owner is very, very helpful and accommodating. The owner gave me the following VIN for the Safari: O228S219.

I would like to find out as much of the history of the Safari as possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction and/or give me some info on this specific unit? Thanks so much for your help.
