Is this a 1965?

I'm in the process of buying a Safari from an estate. This will be my first Airstream. It has been parked for 20+ years and will be in need of restoration. Restoration is not a problem for me as I also restore antique tractors. I'm fully aware of the work involved.

The estate family does not have any idea of the year. I found the door plate and the number 0225245. Can anyone tell me what year this is?

Hi Invictus7403:

First, Welcome to AirForums and congratulations on acquiring a wonderful trailer; the '65 models are my favorite. You will find a lot of good information here.

Yes, the VIN indicates the trailer is a 1965 22' Safari and decodes as follows:

J or S = factory, with J = Ohio and S = California
O = Land Yacht trim
22 = length in feet
5 = 1965 model year
245 = sequential number for twin bed model

Your Airstream should look like these:

65Safari

Again, welcome aboard!

Thank you to everyone who has helped!!!! If I am successful in this purchase, ya'll will be hearing from me rather often during the restoration as I'll be doing a lot of learning.

Does anyone know where I can get a photocopy of the original brochure or any other printed info?

So it is 2 years later from when I first posted and I'm still trying to obtain this Safari. The estate siblings have been squabbling and it has left me waiting. However, they might finally sell me the Safari within the next month. I took some photos today. I still have not been able to see inside to see what kind of damage there is.
