Hi I purchased a 77 landyacht 2 years ago, and am now about to get it back on the road. It is in very good originol condition. My problem is it has vacume brakes which I understand can be very good. I did try hooking them up taking vacume from the tow rig. The wiring from the controler seemed corect all lights worked. A sound of a air releasing came from the trailer control but no brakes. I am on the way to the trailer in Arizona in a couple of weeks. Hope I can get the brakes working without changing to electric. It was stored for over 10 years, maybe seals or such are bad, wonder of the availability of parts? Any advice.
I have the same Break setup as you. There is a wire that should run from your break controller in the towing unit to the rear that is just for the breaks. If you want I can look it up in my book to see wich prong this wire should go on. I know its not the wire that goes to the break lights. Looking at my book when your looking at the 7 way plug it should be at 11 oclock, the wire color is yellow. I hipe this helped.
Hi,
I just purchased a 1977 Sovereign 31' land yacht. The previous owner had painted all the trim blue and then an awefull gold. I am presently striping off all the spray paint and trying to bring it back to original. I am trying to find where I can get the blue plastic or rubber trim that inserts and the small clips that hold the trim. Can anyone help? I also need a new door window and trim. The present one is milky white, the seals are broken. They also spray painted the screen door and screen. Would anyone know if citristrip will eat the screen material? I did'nt get the manual with it. Does anyone know the size of the holding tanks? Thank you very much. Anne and Bob Lake City MI.
Andy at InlandRV.com has the trim. Do a search on vinyl trim and he has listed the part numbers for the 3 different widths. You just missed an ebay.com sale on all 3 of the widths that went for $35.03 last week. I think the widths sold were less than 50 feet so some of it had been used. Check Inland because he has current stock.

Thank you very much. I found it at inland and the price was'nt real bad. I'm will have certain pcs. left also. I ordered 2 rolls of each. His site is awesome. I have another order to put in tomorrow ( my wife). Do you know where I can find the white strips that run along the bottom of the over head storage compartments? It's like a brittle plastic. (at least in a 77 ) Thanks again. Anne and Bob
P.S. Anne and I are learning very fast that the Airstream community is just the Greatest. We just can't beleive the websites etc. She just about kicked my butt because I took our savings $5000 and bought the 31' airstream. I think the price was right. any comments??? It is real sound everything works. new hotwater heater, just a bad paint job. I have will have the before and after pictures.
If it's an off-white like in the rear bathroom then Inland also has that. Good luck.

I don't think his price is extremely high. After all, the factory not long ago was selling it in larger rolls and would not sell it any shorter from what I understand.

Hi Craig, The price was not bad at all for the trim. Thank You. I was wondering if the price I paid for my 77 was to high or not? My wife thought it was high. Thanks, Bob
I paid $4000 for my 77 Overlander and I'm putting a grand into it....it had black mould and I stripped it to the outer skin and reinsulsted-rewired-refloored and bebuilt the interior.....more fun than I imagined... but I needed something to keep me busy this winter...geof
Hello,
Have you got the 2 single beds in the back? I am trying to figure out how or where to find some comfortable mattresses for the beds. Here is my situation. I am disabled with a plate in my neck and 4 more discs going. So I can't do alot. My wife which is so awesome takes care of me and her Dad which has advanced Alzheimers. The last 2 years we have been house bound. We have decided NO MORE. So we saved and bought the trailer. My Mom is getting up there and my Dad just passed last spring. So now Anne and I have to make them as comfortable as possible in our new home away from home. This way we might not go crazy. Our first trip is planned for Memorial weekend. We want them to be so comfortable and enjoy it that they will want to go all the time. Any suggestions on the beds? I am also in the market for a used vehicle to haul it with. (31' ) Thanks Bob
Trailer had a double goucho on the curb side and a double in the front goucho type thing.....all interior is gone into the landfill.....sorry I have a round foam couch that folds to a 7' round bed in place of everything in the front of the trailer....everyone sleeps like puppies in a basket now....have you looked into mattraces out of a sleeper in a tractor trailer-there are cheap ones[3 oz. foam] and there are real good ones foam-padding-springs and air available.....they are high end and good for backs-in the neighborhood of $25 to $400 I believe last time I looked....geof
