Couple questions

Does my AS requre an 1 7/8 ball or 2" ball?

Does my motorized toungue jack work from my car battery if the coach battery is not installed? If not, will it work if I plug in to shore power without the battery installed? My other 12v devices work without the battery installed if I am plugged in to shore power.

Thanks,
Clayton

Your trailer takes a 2 5/16" ball, you should always check the fit after attaching to your truck by jacking back up against the weight of the truck once installed and locked, that way you are sure it is installed correctly and all parts are working.

Your jack should work if the coach is plugged in to shore power as long as the univolt is working and hooked up to it.

Best of luck.

Clayton, install a battery. It's important since your shore power converter is probably exceeding 12 volts on its output. Most of the Airstream manuals advise against running the 12 volt appliances without a battery present.

Even with a modern converter (or inverter/charger as I have in my Overlander), it is never considered to be a good practice to operate for any significant amount of time without a coach battery (I suspect that the owners' manual for the IntelliPower likely makes a similar recommendation as found in the manuals for the new converter in my Minuet and the inverter/charger in my Overlander). In addition, the coach battery is required for the breakaway switch to function properly -- it is a required safety device in many states.

Good luck with your coach!

Excellent point about the breakaway switch. I do have the battery, I just haven't brought it to the airstream yet.
