VIN Identification

I bought a trailer that has a plate on the side of the curb just under the window that reads Sovereign with the numbers
J219 FH

131D9J514

The numbers and letters are over top of each just I have placed them. Can anyone tell me what they stand for? I have been told by the person that I bought it from that it is a 1969 29' Ambassador. Can you tell me if that is what it is from these numbers. Is the bottom number the VIN?

Here goes...

I'm not clear what the first set of numbers represent, someone else may know...however, I can tell you about the second set.

First off, I believe the first "1" is actually an "I", it stands for International. This was an upgrade package that was offered, if you perform a search of "International upgrades" you'll see some earlier threads that discuss what this included.

Next the "31" is your length, this means you have a Sovereign, not an Ambassador which is confirmed by the Sovereign name plaque. An Ambassador is 29' long, a Sovereign is 31'. The "D" means, rear bath/double bed. The "9" is for the year, 1969. The "J" means it was built in Jackson Center Ohio and the "514" is the sequential serial number.

You can confirm this at this Airstream.com link: Serial Number Identification Website

Now I guess you have to change your profile

I just bought a 69 Sovereign, rear bath, the faucet that controls the shower wand is missing the handle and valve stem. Without these parts it will be impossible to fix the water system, without cutting off the sink and shower water supply. There is no name on the faucets and so far I am at a loss to find replacement parts. Can you help?

In your vintage the faucets were made by Streamway. Most "real" hardware stores will have a compatible replacement. If others leak they can often be fixed with a new washer and O-rings for about $3.00 total.

All of the inserts are the same in the coach. remove the knob off the other shower faucet and you should see 2 flat faces on the insert that allow for a wrench. remove the old one and take it with you to match up in the store. There should be a nylon washer, don't lose it you want to reuse it as a seal.

I wish it were that easy, but this is a single faucet on/off hot /cold in one valve I will try the "Streamway" name at the hardware store and see what I can find.
Thanks for the info. I don't think this one will find an easy answer.

69 was a change over year.

My prior post is WRONG. The faucet you describe is a Moen single cartridge faucet. The cartridge runs approx 20 bucks. The issue is finding the one that fits. There are 2 or 3 that are possibilities. I would take accurate measurements to the plumbing supply house. You will need the retainer clip to hold the new one in. The knob should also be readily available.

thenewkid64 thank you

Your info on the faucets being Moen was correct. Thank you. I took apart all three faucets and took all the pieces to a plumbing supply store the parts man took one look and said "Moen, you need the retaining clips." I had everything in ten minutes, now I have to rebuild the faucets and all is well. With the faucets rebuilt next job will be to replace the water line from water tank to hot water heater. Not impossible just time consuming.
