Hey Trex,
The winter has been really nice this year, but we won't be digging any postholes till May.
Took Oscar to the vet this morning and found he has a degenerated disk in his neck. We now have a weiner dog with a neck brace. It's no country for old dogs.
I like the looks of that old Silver Streak.
What do you suppose Top did with that GT that his dad brought him?
The wind was from the south today, I think I could smell something good cook'n on Top's grill.
Have a great weekend. Tim

Hey Tim... That's a good question, concerning TOP. I think his dad may be keeping it for himself. Speaking of GT's... I looked at another GT in Redding... a 1967. They wanted $10,500 for it, based on its current condition, I wouldn't give a dime over $6,000. I wish I would have had my camera with me. Sorry to hear about your dog, by the way.

That Silver Streak Saber was really nice! The lady who owns it, got it from her grand daddy, who was the original owner. He passed away, and left it to her in his will, so for that reason she would never sell....

I'd like to say it was my grill that you smelled Tim, but it was probably a Hormel plant making Spam!
Hope your dog gets better soon.

My Dad and Mom were nice enough to bring Lorelei all the way down here to Texas from Minnesota this past June. She has been patiently waiting for me to start the restoration. I am procrastinating because I have plans to move into a big shop a few miles from here. I have been busy working on trailers, just not my own. Someday soon.

Hey Top...nice to see that you got your GT home. Hopefully, you can start working on her soon.

Last weekend The Bunny and I stayed at the Elks lodge RV and attended the St Valentine's dinner... We had a great time at the dinner on Saturday night. During that afternoon, I went on a nice bike ride on the river trail... and The Bunny went shopping, and then met my sister at Win River, I think they won some money.

On the Sacramento River, there were many drift boats fishing for Steelhead, lots of people walking or riding their bikes, and families enjoying the wildlife at Turtle bay.

More pics of the River trail... this is the newest section of the trail east of the Sundial Bridge which ends at the Mt. Shasta Mall. In the Mall, there's a nice little place called the Rusty Nail. Where one can get something "cold" to drink after "Humping" up the hill.

Good news! The UPS guy just delivered a new Air Chamber today... I didn't know that it was coming because it was back ordered, and I canceled the order. I did talk to the sales manager from Leggett & Platt, and I guess he decided to send me a new "free" Air chamber, once they got them back on the shelves.

Anyway, Thank-you Leggett & Platt/DBA ECO mattress store for replacing the Air Chamber free of charge!!!!

Other good news... I completed the new fence along the property line. One step closer to a new RV awning for Rita. As you can see from the photo, I still need to remove the firewood & slash between the old and new fence lines. And remove the old fence line... or part of it. I may be old...but I'm slow!

Building a new home for Rita...

Yesterday was a burn day in Shasta County...so, I moved Rita forward...out of the way. Once Rita way moved, I moved and burned approx. 2/3's of the slash, laying along the new fence line...I had to stop burning at 5 PM. It was a good day for a retired wildland fireman...with the smell of smoke in the air. And, it's nice to be one step closer to building an RV awning for Rita.

Today was a "No burn day" so I removed pavers along the concrete slab, which is Rita's Home. Now I can start digging the footings for the RV awning. The footings need to be 12" wide x 12" deep x 24' long, on each side of the slab. So, I have a lot of dirt to move before I can pour the concrete footings.

Started digging the footings this afternoon...Placed the pavers under my recycle cans. Another day closer to my new RV awning. I would rather be burning piles than moving dirt!

This weekend I pulled Rita down to the River...Win River Casino. We stayed there Friday night, I played Poker, and the Bunny played the slots. Saturday, we moved to the Elks Lodge, and had dinner with friends. I'm leaving Rita at the Elks for the next 10 days, so I can work on the footings, moving dirt at home. I used the money I won at the poker table to pay for the RV site at the Elks.

Just thinking out loud here... You going to install a backup camera so you know you're not too uh... "close" to the awning when you back in? I know I'm good 99.99% of the time... but that 0.001% will get ya....
Just saying...

Hey Marc....

I think that I'll be okay. The footings are 12' wide, so the awning will be bolted down on the outside edge of the concrete slab which is Rita's home. Plus, I would hit the roof of my house, or the open backyard gate first, before hitting the new awning.

But a camera would be nice... I get out two or three times, to look and make sure that I will clear the open gate, when I am backing Rita. My old toy hauler trailer, which was 8' shorter and 1' wider, was much harder to back into the backyard.

This last Sunday, Rita came home from the Elks Lodge... she was there 15 days. Today, a major winter storm passed thru Redding, so my footings for the new RV awning are all full of rain water. During the last 15 days, I got of the firewood moved, slash burned, most of the footings dug, and the new fence completed. So, my RV awning project is moving forward.

Many of the other Elks thought we had sold our home and moved-in to the Elks lodge parking lot.

Hopefully, it will stop rainning by Saturday, so we can go somewhere for St. Patty's day...maybe Win River RV & Casino. It's our 8th Anniversary together...for The Bunny and I. Last year we went to Rolling Hills RV & Casino in Corning CA.

Pics from our last visit to Win River... two weeks ago.

Just wanted to drop a note and say how much I like your tow rig and Rita hooked up... looks long, low and mean!

Just bought a '68 Power Wagon... kind of an impulse buy.. too cheap to pass up.
The Elks are probably jealous of your mobile pad!

So Marc.... are you going to use the Power Wagon as a tow vehicle? Jealous...? Many of the Elks, who are in the RV Club, own large coaches, so they aren't into vintage Airstreams. And many of the members using the RV sites here, are "Snow Birds" from Washington & Oregon just passing thru...heading home. Once again, many Motor Homes & Coaches.

But, I did meet one member in the bar, who wants to buy a vintage trailer. His friend has a 67 Globetrotter for sale for $10,500. I suggested to him that he offer $6,500... it happened to be the same Airstream that I looked at last month.

April, Redding hosts "Cool April Nights" car show, and it's my understanding that the Elks RV park is overflowing with RV'ers and old cars. So, maybe there will be members from other Elk Lodges who are into Airstreams...

Hey Mr Lewis...I love your trailer, long and shinny. Anyway, its been raining hard here in NORCAL for the last couple of days. So, hopefully the rain will slow or stop, so The Bunny and I can go camping for St. Patty's day to Win River RV & Casino

As you can see in the pics...my footings are full of rain water.

T rex free zone? Funny! No... the Power Wagon is just for fun... and to scare the neighbors! I'll post a pic sometime. Just need something to play with, and the price was right. Let's say the U-Haul trailer and ferry fee to go get it cost more than it!
