Mr. Chow....nice to hear that you are staying nice & cool at the 10,000 foot level. Hinges!!! I am thinking about buying the streamline line of hinges, pulls, and knobs. Mr. Chow....It you're looking for that "Art Deco look", you may want to look at the Streamline hinges and hardware. It has that aerodynamic design that speak's of speed and a bold vision for the future.....or something like that.

The only thing I don't like is the price per unit....

Another good web site is "Stan the Old Hardware Man"...he has lots of old vintage hardware catalogs. Good stuff, if you're looking for that 50's or 60's look in your trailer.

Last Friday I purchased my very 1st "Blue Boy"... 15 gallon external grey water tank. Campground by the lake in Tahoe has very few full hookups. Our site is power only, so the Blue boy is a must. I think there is a "honey wagon" that comes by to service holding tanks every couple of days. I just hope a 15 gallon tank is the right size for us.

I think I will setup the blue boy today, just to make sure there are no issues. Folks out there in Airstream land...do you use a garden hose or a 3" waste line to the BB tank, when hooked to the grey line side?

Them peas and diced carrots go better through a 3-incher, I figger! Plus you'll need a 3" drain for the black stuff on the way out, right?

Or are you gonna keep the black one a "single purpose" hose...?

I think you will be surprised how quickly you can find 15 gallons of grey water to get rid of...

Thanks Mr. A..... I openned up the box this morning, and found that my blue boy comes with a short section of garden hose w/female fittings on both sides, and a 3" hose, (10 footer), but with only one fitting? So, I purchased another fitting at Wal-Mart for the 3" waste line hose.

My plan is to use the blue boy for grey side only. And have the "honey wagon" suck out the black water tank when needed. As you already know, 1972's have no grey water tank. Based on our last camping trip to Lake Syskiyou, I will need to have the black water tank sucked out every three days or so. And we are staying in South Lake Tahoe for 7 days thru the 4th.....Maybe I should shorten the 3" waste line, I don't need 10 feet of hose running between my trailer waste outlet and the blue boy, do I?

Time to go test the system....

Wow!! Good thing I tested the blue boy.... the 3" waste line, that came with the blue boy has a pin hole leak. I think I will buy another hose for the trip.

The other issue was the fresh water pump wasn't working. I found a loose wire behind the bulkhead, where it pluges into the on/off switch.

I also tested, (with a full load of water), towing the blue boy behind my Cargo bicycle. The Yuba Mundo pulled that blue boy like it was nothing.

Yes, our Sov was a "first-year grey tank" model, equipped with a whopping 10-gallon tank. Yes, it's as big as a Texas hat, and not as big as your Blue Boy.

I'm having second thoughts on what hose you could use. I would modify what I said to say that if you are careful with what you let fo down the kitchen sink, in other words, nothing really solid, why not just use the garden hose? After all, even if it does plug up, how hard will it be to unplug?

That way, you could keep your 3" 10-footer just for black tank use, and keep the two separate.

I say this because I remembered that the tank cap on my outlet on the trailer's waste does have a garden hose fitting built into the cap. I'm guessing now that if any other BB tank users would chime in, we might find that they DO use the garden hose connection.

Anyhoo, I suppose you'll find out what is most convenient as you use it.

By the way, I love that cargo bike. I've never seen one like it! Looks like a real worker.

Rex the small section of garden hose with female fittings at both ends is used to attach the blue boy to the campgrounds water hose for flushing out the blue boy after dumping. When using the blue boy use the 3" waste line and slightly open the cap on the garden hose fitting to allow the air in the blue boy to vent out as it is displaced by the incoming grey or black water. If you don't allow the air to escape the waste water won't flow in.

The Cargo bike is made by the Europen Union... it can carry up to 400 lbs. of cargo. So you could tow a small airstream with the Yuba Mundo! Many have been given to people in 3rd world countries, so they can start there own delivery business. Look on youtube...type in "cargo bike" or Yuba Mundo.

Thanks Mr. Wasaga, for the intel.... the 3" that came with the blue boy is paper thin and leaks. I will buy another before our trip to Tahoe. It also warns the buyer...do not tow faster than you can walk....

Nice setup Rex! I just take my blue boy to the dump and poor away.... Usually there's a concete apron that funnels down... No hose needed. I made the mistake once of using the 3" hose to dump blackwater. DONT do that! It blew out.... OH the SMELL! And mess. Nice shakedown trip.

You must live in an historical home in NH...there must be many bulidings from the 1700's in your area? That would be my guess. I have never been to the east coast, except layovers for fire & huricane assignments, (JFK airport, etc.). And working on assignments in the southeast.

I'm surprised that there are so few choices in surface hinges for cabinets. So, now I'm looking at paying $200. for just hardware to finish my cabinets. But that is better than $500+ for a cabinet shop to build. Anyway, thanks again for you advice on hinges.....

My old camp trailer was a Toy Hauler, with a large grey water tank, so this will be my first opportunity to use a "Blue Boy".... Today I will load the back of my tow vehicle with four bikes, chairs, BBQ, tables, and other misc. camping equipment, so we can leave early Thursday morning. We have some friends flying in from Iowa, so we are bringing much more "Stuff" than normal. We will get to Tahoe in the early PM on Thursday and drive back to Reno on Friday to pick up Deb & Anthony at the airport.

Had a good and safe travel day from Shasta Lake to South Lake Tahoe on Thursday, which is a 5 1/2 hour drive w/trailer. There was one small issue with a leaky shower hose. But there is a hardware store two blocks from the campground, (Campground by the lake, (SLT), @ South Lake Tahoe). So I was able to get a shut-off valve and fix the leak for now.

Day two, we picked up Deb and Tony at the Reno Airport, which is an hour drive from SLT. They are our friends from Iowa....

Day three we went to Virgina City for the day, big time tourist trap, but lots of fun...

Day four we went swiming at the beach at Ski Run marina, and in the PM we went to the top of the mountain at Heavenly ski area by gondala. Had lunch at the 9,000+ foot level. They have this tube snow run going with this "people mover setup to get the tubbers to the top of the run...Great fun! Looks like there is not enough WiFi ban to post photos, so I may have to post our vacation photos when I get home.
