I sneaked away...actually I changed from the original frame thread as I didn't think it really fit anymore. Now I am just trying to document as we go along and figure out how to make things work on each step. Sometimes it feels like a gigantic jigsaw puzzle wrapped in a huge ball of tangled yarn. I liked your summation of the kind of daily work that you posted today The work that goes on for each tiny step and you can't even see how much time you put into those jobs. The good part is that some day we are going to be able to go camping!

Need some knobs

Does anyone know where we can get some new knobs for the four ceiling light fixtures that we have? They are fairly large flat knobs that turn the three way switch for the lights. We have three now (need four) and would like to either find all new (first preference depending upon cost) or something that looks even better than original.

Building some pennants for camping

Since everyone in my family loves to camp, I have been busy making pennants for every camper. The plan is to hang them from the trees and camper when we go out. Each one signifies one of the kids, some of their favorite colors, or interests. I made some with small pennants and some larger. Should be interesting to see what sizes I finally end up with. Keeps me out of trouble anyway and helps me to wait patiently for our first camping trip this summer when we are all camping together on four adjacent sites in MN.

Hi Sandy IIRC from talking to Andy at Inland those knobs are made from unobtainium and are NLA. I would give him a call to confirm though as my memory isn't as good as it used to be.
BTW nice looking penants. They will look great strung out between all your airstreams in the future. it will really "tie" them together.

Thanks Chris,
The pennants are really super easy and fun to make. I seem to have a lot of fabric collected so it may be amazing to say but, I made all that you see with my stash. After all, those who die with the most fabric wins! I could make another 507 strings without heading to town which makes me sound a lot like a hoarder. Oh Uffda.

I am really beginning to hate the word unobtainium....seems like a 1976 is not that old that every little bit is the same word....can't get no more!! Isn't there a big warehouse somewhere that has all of these part stocked up and ready to go?

It is only because I am Norwegian (with some other parts mixed in for good measure) that I will not give up until the last dog is ...er...fed and I find what I need. I plan to search a few places next week while I am in the Twin Cities for some time with the grand babies. Depends upon their schedule and my ability to navigate the traffic. Jeez, for most of my relatives being navigators and explorers, I sure don't have their knack for finding my way around.

Good news is that my daughter and son in law have a new hot tub that I plan to put to good use while I am there grandparenting....and planning the next phase of obtaining the unobtaininum. Hope they enjoy their time in Mexico while I teach the kids the joys of Airstreaming!!

Life in MN

Just out of the hot tub and that brisk wind kept us sunk down in the water. DH called earlier to say he got our new furnace and he is working on putting more on the inside together. I miss the family and the AS but time with the grandkids and the hot tub is awesome. It will be fun to see what he gets done with it by the time I return next week.

I was thinking about searching for another AS while no one is here to watch me....

No new AS yet but which lock is the right one?

Spotted a couple of AS in MN but no way to get to them at this point. I did have a question about the right Bargman lock for the Albatross. Is it the 400 or am I missing something here?

Is this the Bargman 400?

Thanks for the reply Chris,
I bought a Bargman 400 lock set as I thought that was the right one and DH says it doesn't fit. I must have something that looks like the right one and maybe isn't. I looked at the Out of Doors page and the one I bought looks a lot like that but something isn't right. I would really not like to have to buy another one.

On to metal work

I got the leather shot bag (don't have the shot yet) and the small roller tool like the one Aerowood suggested. I am totally clueless about how to go about trying to unwrinkle some of the wrinkles we have on the top panels of the front of the Albatross. My husband pushed some of the worst out previously but now I would like to get them a little better. I figured someone goes outside with the shot bag and someone is inside rolling it gently with roller but how should it be done exactly? I am worried about doing more damage than is there already so if someone has some tips on how to approach this part of the restoration, I would be grateful.

Gordian knot?

Latest progress with plumbing, air conditioning shroud, and bulkheads on the Albatross. Good thing my DH stayed busy on the trailer while I was gone.

Time to pull the gray tank?

With our "made to fit exactly" old gray tank replacement that doesn't fit, my DH is having quite a time. He is threatening to pull the new tank out and put the old one in. The fittings are not the same on the new tank as the old and he is having one *^%$ of a time getting things to work. Can this marriage be saved?

Is anyone out there?

I keep posting questions and don't get a lot in reply so I am not sure if I am asking in the right forum or not. We need some info on how to wire up the shore power cord. We have the new cord but didn't take pictures of how it came apart. Ideas?
Sandy
