It is Possible! Photos of our Luxe Land Yacht Completed

I just wanted to share some 'after' photos of our Luxe Land Yacht! - this is our 1976 Sovereign center bath.

We found our new home on eBay - it had been updated at some point with some laminate flooring, a larger bed in the rear.. but that's about it.

...So we gutted it! Removed the inner skins and replace the electrical, insulation, and everything that goes with it! Each window was removed, disassembled, cleaned, and re-tinted and re-screened. New axles, wheels, polishing, and restored emblems finished the outside.

We use a deep freeze as our refrigerator (Extremely energy efficient!!), I have 2 large AGM batteries that power the inverter and keep the 'refrigerator' running as we travel down the road! LED lights (eBay!) throughout are unbelievably energy efficient and give great light.

Countertops are salvaged restaurant table tops that we refinished. Cabinets and seating are custom made. The flooring is vinyl plank - it has real wood texture - but still easy to clean!

Enjoy the photos!

Very nice! I wish that we had kept our '77 Sovereign after seeing what wonderful things people have done with older Airstreams. You should be very proud!

Thanks everyone! Again, I owe a lot of thanks to everyone on Airforums. From refurbishing the windows, planning for new electrical, plumbing, to polishing, everyone's wisdom made this possible!

Great job! The inside looks wonderful. I've got to admit, the last picture with the sky line and stars, is what it is all about with that reflection.

Thanks for sharing.

Lovely and long! Can you expand on the use of a "deep freeze"? Is that just an electric freezer and what do you do with non freezer perishables like milk?

very nice. I like the curtains! I have a 64 safari and I am trying to decide what to do with the windows. I don't think that I will get DH to make those cool ceiling lights. Too bad, they are nice.

Thanks for the comment! Our GE deep freeze runs on 110v (runs on our inverter when when not hooked up to shore power). I added a thermostat which automatically keeps the deep freeze at 'refrigerator temperature' - I keep it at 35 degrees. When it warms up to about 37, the compressor is allowed to turn on by the thermostat to cool it back down to 35. I've found that the unit runs approximately 1.5 minutes every 40 minutes at 70 degrees room temperature. Thanks!

..yes having the fishing poles stored, but still accessible is sure nice (and looks fun!). We found our fishing pole mount on amazon - don't see the exact same one any more, but it is similar to -> Amazon.com: Berkley Black Horizontal Rod Rack: Sports & Outdoors

Good luck on the mod!!
