Why no dinette ?

I am looking at Excella 1000 models and just realized lots of them have no dinette in the kitchen.

Wonder why this was done ?

Does this mean you have to sit on the couch and use the fold up table for meals ?

Is this hard to get used to ?

Hi, using the fold-up table is sort-of like a TV tray at home, but better. When you are done using the table for eating you can use it for your lap top or whatever. And then fold it out of the way. I don't care for having a stationary dinette, but if you have kids, it turns into a small bed. If you don't have kids and there is only the two of you, I think the dinette is a waste of space. [my opinion] You need to decide what would be best for you.

Our AS has a gaucho, and the Avion has the dinette. The gaucho setup feels more open and, but the dinette is my personal preference. They are both very functional. I suppose it boils down to personal preference.

We don't have the dinette either and don't think it takes any getting used to--it takes about 15 seconds to flip up the table and usually leave half the table up all the time. My dad's 34' excella has the dinnette and if given the choice we would take it without. It gives us much more cabinetry for storage in the kitchen and more room in the living area. The fold up table at the gaucho can seat four (with two chairs) and there's another small fold up table (attached to the curbside wall) that can seat two more. The dinettes I have seen would be cramped to seat four (we are tall people and need a little elbow room). A dinette and a table at the gaucho would seem to be a duplication and waste of very valuable real estate. Of course, it all depends on what works for you.
