30/50 amp service instructions?

Howdy!

Now that we know "Mo" fits at home, it is time to get proper shore power supplied.

I have searched but not been able to locate a process/direction to take.

Peace and blessings... Channing

Do you have a question? I haven't been able to figure out what you want.

Thanks. Sorry, wording seemed ok for this Cajun at the time...

I am looking for wiring diagram of circuits for 30 and 50 amp RV circuits which I will install at my home so that I can directly connect 30 or 50 amp circuit from Airstream. Basically want to provide "shore power" source on my workshop so I can connect my 1999 Excella 1000, 34',

There are a few links on this page:

wiring 50 amp home rv receptacle - Technical Tips and Tricks - Escapees Discussion Forum

I can't vouch for their efficacy but the posters seemed to be happy with the results. Otherwise Google "How to wire an RV outlet at home"

Your coach will require a 30 amp 120 volt power source. Unless you have 2 A/C units. Then it's probably a 50 amp requirement.
You should find the correct outlet at Home Depot. The outlet will be CLEARLY marked for 120 volts and will have reference to RV service.
You can obtain a receptacle installed in an enclosure for outdoor use.
If you hire an electrician make sure he/she clearly understand that you need 120 volt service. NOT 240 volt.
If you do the work yourself. Make sure you wire the receptacle correctly. It is clearly marked where the hot (black) and neutral (white) wires are to be terminated.

This is the 30 amp RV power outlet we installed on the side of our house:

GE 30 Amp Temporary RV Power Outlet-U013P at The Home Depot

Installation cost was $40 and a couple of beers (AFTER the work was completed). A neighbor's son installed it for us; and since he is a licensed electrician, the "professional installation" meets local codes.

As noted in others' posts, make sure the electrician understands that this is a 120-volt AC, 30 Amp RV outlet; and verify the wiring and voltage for yourself BEFORE you plug in your Airstream. (There are several posts on this site from people whose outlets were mis-wired for 220 volts, and they burned up their converters and wiring.)

Thanks!

appreciate the point that u must understand this is ONLY 108-120VAC!

Although the RV electrical connector resembles the "dryer" electrical design, it is NOT the same size or electrical circuit. !!!!!!

I doubt I will use 50 amp service but it is probably worth installing while I am having electrical work done.

Peace and Blessings,
Channing.

Unless you have 2 A/C units and plan to use them both at the same time. There is no need for 50 amps.
The outlet shown above can not be used for 50 amps.
What does the plug on your Shore Power cable look like?

I went the easy way (for me). I hired a local licensed electrician to install a duel 15/30 amp ckt and box on the outside of my garage. Total $125 including the box.

They cost considerably more (4x-5x) because they require more wires, heavier wires, and a switch or circuit breaker at the outlet location.

In fact you can use a regular 15a or 20a outlet for most purposes. It's helpful to have a 30a outlet if you are spending time in the trailer while it's parked and want to run the air conditioning.

One thing to remember is that this is a 34' trailer in Texas. You will want the ability to run the AC.

A friend of mine has a 34 with factory 50amp service and has added a second AC. I am jealous.
