1999 Excella 1000 Value?
My friendly tax man has what I think is an inflated tax value on my 1999 30 ft Excella 1000. Anyone know of a source for finding the value on a used Airstream? Maybe a web site that I could print out some documentation suitable for contesting the alledged tax value? I think that their value of $32,000.00 is too high. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Try http://www2.nadaguides.com/
Note that "Excella" is an options package, so there should be no additions for options unless you have stuff like satalite TV, extra awnings, or solar equipment. Low retail is $22,000, high retail is $27,000.
These are retail prices, what a dealer would expect to get with a guarantee. You as a private seller would not be expected to get nearly those prices.
Your bank or local library should have a hard copy NADA book they can let you see.
Good luck,
Mark

You need to call your tax office. If it is a personal property tax, it is probably on a schedule that has little to do with blue book values. When I lived in
Virginia, an auto, boat, etc. went on the books at 80% of purchase price and reduced 10% per year until it reached 30% value where it stopped.
Don't know N.C. system?

Fair Value for 1999 Excella 1000 30'
We have that AS, and love it. We paid $20K in a private sale for a unit in perfect condition with the exception of the batteries which we replaced. That seems in line with all the research we did, and with other comments on this thread.

I should think that whatever standard the IRS uses to value automobiles, the same reference should be acceptable for Airstreams. I'm betting that would be NADA values.

I bought a 1999 Airstream 30' in 2010 for $18,500, which included a Reese dual cam hitch. The exterior was good/fair, with a few minor dings and peel. The interior was fair/poor, need new carpet and lots of cleaning.
I would do a NADA-RV value and take that to visit the tax man.
