Like you said, it may be best to not put too much credence into the old timers comment. I have heard it now from 2 different sources and something like that turns quickly into a "fact". The reality is that the tongue weight is only 25 pounds more on the 34 FK versus the regular 34.
The 1994 30' FK has the same tongue weight (750#) as the 30' Excella.
I recently purchased a 1994 30' FK and I not notice any difference pulling it versus my 1997 30' Excella WB. We just love the layout. I had to rebuilt the front dinette and converted the rear twins into daytime office/nighttime twins use. The goucho will be a sleeping booth with a floor to ceiling curtain.
