If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Keep it in good repair and roadworthy and ready to camp.
Are the curtains and upholstery in good shape?

That sure looks nice! After all of the hand polishing we did to ours last year, we have decided to take it up a notch to look at least like this. Love It!

Rob finished making and installing the dining tables. Our whole family can eat there together. We even had a little dinner party camping in the rain with our good friends. Love them!

Folks, You can clearly see by the picture that only Katie knew when Rob was going to take the picture! Ha Ha! We had a great time sitting " around" the table (s) in your beautiful Airstream! We also were able to flip around and watch TV later. Very comfortable.

This is the laminate we used on the tables. It has tiny threads of aluminum. Really cool stuff!

We have not been able to camp as much lately because we are working on our new house, which has lots of trailer parking! We hope we will see some of you along your way. The new charging station we built in for multiple phones and tablets works great, and we continue to love everything about our Excella! We were at Hiawassee last weekend and it reinforced how much we love spending time in her.

Skatiero where did you find the laminate? We are nearing that update and like what you picked.

We bought it from a friend who makes commercial cabinetry. I will ask him where he got it. Thanks! We really love it.

I have no ideas to help you, but I have read the whole thing and I enjoyed your writing about your AS. Good luck as you continue your upgrade. May you have many years of traveling together as a family. We have owned a 1963 for 30 years, then a 1987 for another 12 years. We recently sold the 87 as our age and health has caught up with us. So enjoy your travels while you can. Please continue to post here as I am enjoying your writings.

Any updates on this? We are planning on the same boomering pattern that's in our house for the kitchen cointertops, but the charcoal/aluminum threads could be cool elsewhere!

Thanks! Also wondering if the 3Form is pricey? I had been looking at using some Panelite options for doors and walls (panels of extruded aluminum encased in plastic), but it's ridiculously expensive, especially in the small quantities I'd use for our Airstream.

Finally, how is the Allure holding up? I had been pretty set on using Marmoleum (it's period appropriate for our Midcentury taste, and also uses a glue that will withstand crazy temperature swings), but there is something to be said for cheap (Marmoleum is NOT) and readily available (Home Depot vs. special order and special install). I keep having to remind myself that being able to get something done now is often better than making sure you have "the ultimate." It's great that something might last 80 years, but who cares if it's keeping you from completing the project and camping!

My major concern with the Allure is temperature swings. It's pretty clearly an "indoor only" product, and while it will be protected from precipitation, it's still going to get pretty darn cold in the Airstream when not in use in the Colorado winter (something I know you guys don't have to worry about as much). I know it's vinyl, but I still worry about the expansion/contraction of thin strips of anything butted tightly together.

Thanks SO MUCH for all the awesome info and pics in this thread!!!

We LOVE our Allure, and have never had a problem with it, but of course we live in Georgia mountains, not Colorado mountains! 3 form is very pricey, but we are in love with it. We have used it in our house as well.

By the way, did you see the article in the new Airstream Life magazine about our Airstream?

Ive had Allure in two Airstreams, never had an issue with it. It's easy to install, and keep clean.

I didn't. I actually haven't gone far enough down the rabbit hole yet to subscribe to Airstream Life.

I'm going to do some more checking on the ability of Allure to withstand below freezing temp (and temp swings, as some times we'll go from 70 degrees to negative numbers over night!). Also need to check the 3Form pricing. Seems like a really great product that's easy to manipulate... I just need to budget.
