1986 Excella 32' Double Door

I just purchased an 86 Excella 32 with a second door in the bedroom, a rear full bed & a dinette. This is the only one of it's kind I have ever seen. Were there more than a few double door units made? I have heard of structural problems associated with the rear door but I don't see any problem. Customer Service at AS knows of no problems either.

There is mine, a 1954 double door Liner.

1987 34' Excella 1000 Double Door

KDA1,
We have a 1987 34' Excella 1000 with a double door that we got in Columbus, OH a few years ago and so far I don't see any structural problems. We love her and you can see some pictures of her in our galleries...

http://www.airforums.com/photos/brow...?c=3316&userid=

There is also another couple at Penn Wood that have the same thing as you do. So double doors are out there.

We got the 1987 marketing pamphlets with our trailer and the floor plan pamphlet lists the double door in as an option. One floor plan has the queen bed up against the road side wall and the other option is to have the queen running east / west (which is what we have). I sleep on the side of the bed towards the back window and there is very little room for me to navigate when getting in and out of bed.

Welcome to the commnuity and have fun with yours.

How about posting some pictures of yours?.

Pictures will be coming after the new Zip Dee awning is installed. Thanks to all who replied. Looks like I'm in good company here.

I have an '85 double door Excella. I have seen one other, but I would also love to know how many were made! I am just finishing a complete remodel, and just started on clear coat removal.

The inside is finally finished! Soooo much work, but it looks great. Just finished removing all of the clearcoat from the outside, and are having a hell of a time finding a polish that works well. We want it to look like the finish on the new Airstreams, and not the mirror-look that all of the Youtube videos show. Right now it looks great, but our understanding is that it needs something on the natural metal to keep it looking good. Any suggestions would be welcome! ( sorry for the sideways photo, I do not know why my pictures are turning when I upload them. And this photo is when it was close to done- so I have to take a new one!))

Looks great! Did you paint the ceiling? What kind of paint did you use? On the exterior, we love White Diamond. It's a cleaner and a protectant all in one. It give a wonderful factory-like shine and lasts much longer than wax. Could you post more photos? The rear door option is very cool. We looked at one with it but needed to put bunks in there on both sides or our big family.

Can we join the exclusive double door club? We also have a double door Excella and love it, had it about 4 years. Also has the panoramic windows in the back as well.

'Double door club'

That looks great! It is even more rare to have panoramic windows at both ends. We have just finished our interior/ exterior remodel, and are ready to (finally!) take it out for our first trip. Would love to see some interior pics of yours. I will post more of mine soon.

Nice! Love the double panoramics!

Danjoe, we are remodeling an 86 excella 32 and it is so interesting to see the differences between ours and yours! What kind of paint did you use on your ceiling? Your whole rig looks great.

Remodel project

The first thing we did was clean every surface with 409, even using a Q-tip to clean the edges around the light switches. We the had Kilz primer tinted to match our finished paint color, and did two coats of that. We did mostly one coat of finished paint ( in eggshell finish)- but two in some places. It's a lot of work with all of the 'cutting in', but well worth it! We polished it ourselves (using just elbow grease and no tools). Painted the whole lower portion and hitch. Put on all new graphics, lights and blue molding, and today installed the modified rock guards'. By next week we will have a newly fabricated (copied)propane cover. If you look at the brochure of the new rigs, we modeled our interior after the 'Serenity' model. I still can not figure out why my photos turn when I upload them, but want to include the pictures anyway. Would love to see progress pictures of yours!
