1985 Excella.

Hey. We are new to the airstream life. I was wondering, is it possible to get the mirror shine on a 1985 Excella? My husband says no, but I won't go down without a fight. I realize it over 200 hours of work. But. Is it possible?

It can be done but it isn't easy.

Search for posts by Beckybillrae about her 86 Sovereign. We met her at Indiana Dunes and her rig was amazing.

Mike is right--it can be done--(and it was great meeting Mike & his wife at the Dunes!) My Sovereign is going off to a new owner tomorrow. The polish job was a lot of work, mostly because of the size of the trailer. Here are my last pictures I had taken of she & I before she goes off into the horizon.

I'm in Northwest Indiana. But the trailer is going to Atlanta eventually. And, by the way, I'm 52 and in the middle of polishing my Bambi II, which is shorter, but much more steps to polishing than the Sovereign was. The big thing about it is the first polish job & the fact that you have to do it every year (unless you have indoor storage). I did cover it this last winter & the results were fantastic. I'll be covering my Bambi II when she's finished. Have a big bottle of Ibuprofen ready

I'll run to SAMs for the Advil. I've watched a few YouTube videos on polishing and I've read thru so many threads my eyes are crossed. Where would you suggest I start. If you're not interested in pointing me in a direction, I totally understand. Thanks

You need to strip the clearcoat. I used Removall 220 which, from what I understand, they don't make anymore. Look at Vintage Trailer Supply & see what they are selling for clearcoat removal. They're the best place to go for everything you need for your trailer.

Thanks. That's where I'll start!

We've had great luck with clear coat removal using Citristrip.
