My first Airstream

I'm picking this camper up this weekend. From looking at the archived pictures, I think it is a 1968 28' Ambassador International. Have I identified this camper accurately? Thanks four everyone's help.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new Airstream.

All 66-68 Airstreams have curved windows that match the curvature of the body. If you can take a close look at the windows especially when they are open, that will help to identify the year.

Well, I was wrong. Turns out the camper was a 26' Overlander. It does have the curved glass, so I'm thinking it's a 67,68,or 69. The plate with the serial number is missing, and no number/letters on the a frame either.

The plate with the vin number is the red and blue plate right next to the door under the window. It's the center section, if you clean it good you should be able to read the numbers. I had to run black grease over mine and then wipe it off. This left the black grease it the numbering, but not on the plate. I need the contrast to see the well.

It's not a 69! A 69 has round corners on the rear window.

No title and the plate is missing. It's a 68, since the windows have the aluminum around their edges. At least that's what I have read.

Sorry, but a 69 Airstream has the same window in the rear as in the front, which has square corners.

66, 67 and 68 Airstream used square cornered windows in the front and rear.

The 1970 models went to round corners on the rear, except when the rear also has the wrap windows, and then and only then does the rear window have square corners.

Correct.

Check it for rear end separation.

Also, from your photo, it appears that maybe the rubber rods in the axles are history.

No title and the Vin Plate is missing? That would make me very nervous...

All I'm going to do with the camper is rewire it, replace the flooring, and put bunk beds in it for deer camp. It's gotta make it 47 miles down the road and it will be home!
