Just took a look at your gallery and I would like to say congratulations on your newest addition. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but Maxwell is much more precious than aluminum.

Well I just sent off a couple of winders (from the parts trailer) to Eljay today.
I managed to remove most of the wiring today. That really seemed to open up the coach quite a bit. I guess I could always Ebay the old wire for the resotration nuts out there. Mmmm One box of vintage Original copper and aluminum wiring form a California built 1967 Ambassador International double. Opening bid, $???.00 for those that have to have OEM or nothing at all for the restoration of there coach.

Just an update for those that may be wondering what is happeneing.

As you may have read in the "Suffering sucatash" thread, things are not pretty at the ILL house these days. Ambassalander is on hold till further notice. Once things get straightned out at home, then we (wife and I ) will look at reviving the project. I can not do much more till there is a couple of thousand laying around looking for a use. I have a little that can be done but mostly just cleaning and the such.

Hang in there everyone and keep going.

This is not a plea for Karma....

Update time.

Things are starting to turn tward the up side finally. Most of the big projects are done or nearing completion. I have cleaned out the Overlander (parts trailer) and will be using it a couple of times in October to just get out before I get out of my mind.

I may have even found a source of funding for the "next big step" on the Ambassador!!! Yea!!!! Ambassalander here we come!!!!

See some of you out in Pacitonica (or somehting like that)

WOW four months....

Well I have checked and the funds are in the bank for axles and floor. I will start to remove one axle to take to Axis to have a copy made. I plan on have the same weight rating as the originals which is 2300 lbs each vs the newer 2500 lbs. I do not want too stiff of a ride on the trailer. Rivet gun is on order and I remember there being comunity calicos floating around?? Will have to look into that....

I just realized that I typoed big time.....

It should be 3200 lbs axle vs. 3500. sorry.

The polish vs clean and reclear coat is something that is getting a lot of discution around here..... not "clear" winner yet.

This is the end.
R.I.P for the Ambassador. The dismantlement has begun and will be over by the 4th of July. Just too much work and I guess another neighbor that does not like a pair of Airstreams around. Parts are going to fix up the Overlander that I have. Depending on the out come of the other Overlander I was told about I may just scrap out the Ambassador or cut it up to salvage the Overlander with a splice amidships.

Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!! I replaced the whole front end on my 1993 airstream classic limited 34' . Some people thought I was crazy taking on this project. But now that it is 85% done ,they can't believe it is the same trailer. Don't get discouraged just keep working on it !!!

Ambassador parts

Tedd, I am still in need of the small screen for the window to the right of the entry door for my 67'. If you don't have that one any other curved screen of the same height would do as the frame on mine is what is broken. I could take one apart and repair mine with the curved aluminum frame. I think the height on all of the screens is the same but it must be a curved frame. If you have one please PM me and let me know what want for it and shipping. Thanks, Ed

Well the shell is in three pieces. I will be removing the rear section tomorrow.

Ed. I think that shipping will be no big deal. PM your address and I will see what I can do.

I want to trade a 29" Curved Corning window for a 17" one. Let me know.

R.i.p.

Tedd, At least the Ambassador is going for a good cause... (to help out with the re-building of the other coach)! I think the name "Frankenlander" would be most appropriate for this newly resurrected Airstream. ALIVE!... IT's Alive! and the Ambassador gave its' last full measure to insure the Overlanders' survival. What more could any Airstream do than to give it's life..... for the life of it's brother. I think Wally would be proud. I'm sure the neighbors will be happier too! Check your PM's for my address and thanks again. Ed

Warning, graphic images too follow....

This is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach.

I now have a 6 foot Ambassador. Well the whole thing is now 20 feet, but there is 6 feet of aluminum for a Bambi-esk like coach up front.

Leftovers Anyone?

Say Tedd, Are the wheel wells on the leftover frame section galvanized? Mine look like fiberglass...(that is what's left of them!) If they are could you get me some close-up pictures of how they are made and attached? Thanks Ed

Scott,
The endcaps are safe. The shell section will go to the Overlander and the other shell section will be a very small Airstream with a flat end.

Ed. The wheel well boxed just sit on the outriger and are captured down between the decking and outriger then bolted.
