1966 Ambassador Information

Four years ago I purchased a 28 ft 1966 Ambassador . I've done quite a bit of repair over the years and have enjoyed the journey. The Forum has been of great help solving the many issues I have faced. Now I'm wondering if there are any other 66 Ambassadors out there or do I have a rare trailer or just a trailer that has no "sex" appeal to Airstream owners. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't give up my trailer, it has provided many hours of enjoyment.
Does anyone know how many 1966 Ambassadors were made. Just looking for any info I can find on the Ambassador. I'll post some pictures in a later post and hopefully find some other owners so I don't feel alone. Hoping to hear from someone soon.

Hi there and welcome to the Forums!

The years 1966-1968 were all very similar, so I don't think you should limit comparing yourself to just one year.

It does seem true that the shorter trailers seem to have more "sex appeal" as you put it, but I love my 26' Overlander, and the Ambassador is even bigger than that!

Anyway, take a look around for owners of '66-'68 Ambassadors, and you'll find those who are like-minded. There are quite a few on this board. Also, if you have any pictures of the work you've done to your trailer, we'd love to see them.

One other thing, I don't know if you've seen it before, but RJ Dial has an archive of pictures and some basic information on many different years of Airstreams. You can find the section on '66 Ambassadors here:

And the entire archive page is here:
