Restoration in Poland 1975 Overlander

Hello
I import to Poland 1975 27ft Overlander two weeks ago and now i start restore
In US it looks that:

Size:	782.9 KB
ID:	144676

When I see it in person I found one big problem - it is silver painted
and the worse thing it is sanded with very big scraches.
After one week hard work it looks like this:

Almost all paint is removed and I try removing scratches, I use sand paper and start from 220-400-600-1000-2000-2500 and then jestco compound and result is:

So I have lots of work in next few weeks but most important is all scratches are gone

Next thing is the previous owner likes silicone anywhere I look I see silicone - lots of silicone in every hole You can imagine, So I need one week more to remove it.

I post more about progress

Sorry for my English

It is beautiful

You are doing it correctly. Nice job! Just go slow and have fun as you go....that way it never will be a bad experience. Let us know if you need "long distance" help.

Very nice to see your work! What vehicle are you going to use to tow it with?

I thinking about dodge ram or chevy silverado, but in Poland we have gasoline price about 1,80$/litre-6,6$/galon so I'm worry about costs

Where did you import it from?

What did it cost to ship?

Today I try polish few panels but lot of scratches left on the skin, so I must work more with sandpaper to remove it, but i'm worry about alcad aluminium. I do some test on lower panel with very deep scratech - I use 180 grit paper to remove it and still it can be polished - I'm very happy with that.

Hey, Pawel, that looks great!

When you finish, you're welcome to come to New Mexico and work on ours! (Bring the Airstream, and I'll provide a free place to park it, full hookups!)

Pawel

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, that you bought a painted Airstream and did not know this in advance. However, the exterior, other than being painted and siliconed seems to be in nice condition. Your sanding and polishing looks fantastic. Keep up the good work and keep the photos coming.

I think that your transformation of your Airstream will help a lot of folks on this forum. thanks.

Dan

Hello
He don't want to tell anything more about his compound, but it is very cheap ( about 3$/kg)

Excellent work! Hard to find a good day to work during the Polish Winter weather.
