Question 1977 Overlander?

I see there is a forum for each model, and then for each year. I have a 1977 Overlander International.. but there's not a forum for that?

I am new to everything and have a feeling I"ll be on here a lot for a while seeking advice etc.

And while we're talking about oddities in years.. here's another.

I see lots of discussion about the suburban furnace and I've found many for sale. Mine is a Suburban NT 30 M.I see postings for NT30 SP SF and other suffixes. Any suggestions about finding a replacement for the NT30M?

Thanks for your help guys.. after a little more research. I'm gonna be doing solar on my coach I hope.

Hi Rofkrynn,

Welcome to the Forums! I also own a 1977 and can send you a CD of the owner's and service manuals if you need a reference copy. Our Tradewind also has the NT 30M furnace and it works well. Other Suburban furnaces without the "M" designation had an important safety recall http://www.airforums.com/forums/f427...call-2889.html that was discussed in this thread. If yours works OK, and has been checked - it might go for a long time yet.

As for solar, we're going with RV Solar Kits - Wego Solar 125 amp. RV kit.

Kevin

MY NT30M is not working.. the guy i got it from said there was a crack in the air exchange so I was looking to try and replace the unit. But can't seem to find any. Amazinbly enough ai think all the owner's manuals are in this unti. It's in pretty decent shape and usable. there are a few things wrong. stove was stolen.. bought a "new to me" magic chef today, the furnace has the crack in the air exchange and the plumbing hasn't been checked in the two years the guy had it.. but he said he'd winterize it etc.. so I have a master plumber freind coming this week to give it a once over for me
.

I'll check out the solar site you posted before i hit the hay. Thanks for all the offered help. Trust me.. Im gonna need it..lol

Except for Argosy trailers... they lump us all together in one forum with no distinction by year or model.

I also have a 77 Overlander. Kevin's service manual on disk has been
very helpful. Thanks Kevin.

76 or 77 Overlander

Greetings to Overlander owners,

I just purchased my Overlander, and am just getting my feet wet as I get ready to renovate.

The bill of sale, as well as the info on the trailer say 1976. But as I examine the many photos and floor plans available on the forum, my Overlander looks to be the 77 model - sold in the fall of 76?

The most telling detail seems to be the two battery compartments located at the front, with the 12V board and Univolt(?) located inside between these battery boxes.

I appreciate any thoughts or feedback on these reflections.

And yes, I have found what seems to be floor rot from the vista windows on the road side.

Thanks,
Peter

77 Overlander

My Overlander is a '77 Model.

I have located the Univolt - which hums away - and the battery compartments(empty).

I hope to see other's post associated with the 1977 Overlander, and will likely start my own thread as I seek comments on my work. The interior as mostly stripped, just a few interior panels left...

Cheers,
Spindrift

77 Overlander Intnl. 27"

Hello out there, We also have a 27' Overlander, Int... given to us by a relative. It had sat in storage for the last 15 years. Dirty but in good shape. I pulled it home to Virginia & we're in the process of fixing & cleaning. So far, all new custom built galley cabinet and doors (redwood & dark oak) table made of maple & walnut, corian counter top, some tile in backsplash area; stove, frig, furnace, and water heater all working. Replaced water pump & plumbing hardware. Currently installing a portable A/C unit in bathroom closet, vented out thru 5" round hole above water heater. See how that works out?? Scheduled for drapes, couch & bed covers soon, then carpet. Painted the inside a light green. Will try to post some pictures eventually. Still need one window.

Greetings, my wife and I just purchased our first Airstream yesterday which brings me to this forum. Our trailer is a 1977 27' Overlander International Land Yacht. I've spent a good deal of time on this website as a non-registered user in anticipation of purchasing a trailer. We look forward to learning about the nuances of our vintage trailer. After reading the posts specific to the Overlander, I suspect this forum will be an invaluable resource. In time, hopefully we can contribute as well.

You will have plenty of company with an Overlander. The Overlander was quite popular during the 1960s and 1970s. There is much speculation as to why the Overlander was so popular, but the consensus seems to be that it was its balance between size, function, and original cost that helped it to sell well. While my Overlander is of a different generation than yours, there are many similarities throughout the Overlander's generations.

Good luck with your Overlander . . . I am sure that you will enjoy it more with each passing day!

Kevin

Thanks Kevin. We're happy to be in that company and I'm confident we'll enjoy the trailer. I noticed you're from Anna, Illinois. We spend a fair amount of our free time in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois and we're fond of the town of Anna. It's hard to go wrong with the fried chicken at the lodge in Giant City State Park.

You are welcome! It is always a pleasure to welcome a newcomer to the group.

I grew up in the Kankakee area, but my mother's family called the area near Anna home for more than a century. The Giant City Lodge has always been one of my favorite restaurants as well as a destination for drives to enjoy the changes of season.
