Question Thetford waste cap

Am I better off getting a new white cap for my black water waste tank or getting an adapter to fit the 4 inch valve to the new standard?

I use a Thedford to Valterra adapter on the outlet when I use my blue boy for grey water since it has a Valterra type connector and because of the way the hose stores a Thedford end would not work. I put a Thedford end on my sewer hose so when I have full service it hooks up to the outlet with no adaptor. My old 68 does not have a lot of room for the hose to bend and go down out of the bumper trunk so for that reason I don't use the adaptor unless I have to on the blue boy. Vintage Trailer Supply has Thedford adaptors.

Reason being, no one stocks the 4inch cap. If it falls off while traveling not easy to replace. I have no other hose or couplings. I have no grey water tank either. So...

The original black tank outlet cap was white and made by Thetford.

Parts stocking dealers have them.

Also, double check the "collector".

Many of them at this point are cracking all over the place. That collector is now also available.

I have done the Tetford to Valvera conversion once. I went back to Tetford because there is less leverage on the fittings and fewer gaskets. Rasy solution would be to just order 2 caps fron outdoor mart. use one and carry one.

Thanks Andy!

Just took the galley and furnace out seems like all of the 40 year old plastic is very brittle. I will look for the collector as well. The collector looked much newer than the cap though. The nearest Airstream dealer is over a 100 miles away(but so is Jackson Center). Ordering is the best way to go for me.

The waste system on most trailers is 3" not 4". You can buy a new Thetford termination cap. RVPlus has them in 2 styles.
I just bought one last week. They are cheap enough that you could buy 2 at a time. It helps not having to pay shipping twice if you lose one on the road.
