Hey Pete!
You would'nt happen to have the weight distribution would you? I'm completely rehabbing my '68, and want to make sure I get the weight proper in front of the axles. I am guesstimating 60% in front of the axles / 40% behind.

The tongue weight should be 10% to 15% of the gross trailer weight with 12% considered ideal. In other words a loaded trailer weighing 6000 lbs. should have a tongue weight between 600 lbs and 900 lbs with 720 lbs recommended. Lighter than 10% will cause handling problems (sway) and greater than 15% will overload the hitch.

Thanks, Apple, but that's not exactly what I was referring too. Tongue weight I'm very familiar with - I used to work in a boatyard. I am looking for the total weight on front of the axles and behind the axles which indirectly accefts the tongue weight.
You could have 2000 lbs under the front window and have way too much tongue, while distributing the 2000 across 15' of trailer frame (before the axles) reduces the overall weight on the tongue. Then there's center of gravity, which is a whole other ball of wax, but we won't pursue that here.

I just got a 68 overlander in pretty good condition...thankfully.
I am trying to "fix"/restore the storage cabinets under the twin bed (6 covers that push up). Is it possible to find the plastic that attached the front covers to the piece that pushes back???

Hey Martha,
Unless some good fellow has spares or you can find them in a market somewhere, probably not. You may be better off trying to adapt a different rolling mechanism, like that of a computer keyboard try, to the drawer lid(s). In this ongoing restoration which is taking forever, I am opting those drawers out to gain some valuable space for a larger bed set.
