Vinyl entry Door skin
My entry door has the original white vinyl which matches the interior.
It frequently gets black marks on it from the aluminum screen door.
In the previous trailers I had, I stripped this vinyl off and polished the aluminum under it.
What have you done to yours? Its quite a pita to strip and polish, and I have considered painting, but that will not stop the black streaks.
I just installed a new rubber door molding and am painfully aware of the black marks on the white door liner.
Thought the old molding would be tough to get off, but it was so dry it came right off...in chunks.

I've tried to clean mine a number of times with zero success. I'd love to restore it but I don't know. I'll follow this thread with interest.

At the shop we have patches of thick self-stick clear teflon tape to eliminate squeaks on interior body panels.
A quick Google search found a number of rolls of different types of this tape.
I suppose applying a layer of this slippery tape on the screen door frame would seperate the aluminum from the door skin. I don't know how long it might last but it could be worth a try.

An idea along Tom's line of thinking.
Is there enough room to add a couple of those clear silicone dots that are used on kitchen cabinets so the doors don't slam into the face frame? If this would work it may prevent the contact between the 2 surfaces and not change the appearance substantially.

Both are good ideas.I was thinking along those lines today but the little raised dots might just work. I had in mind a strip of sticky back velcro to do that, but like the idea of it being less noticeable. Thanks.. will look into that

The dots. Yes! That just might be it.

Picked up the dots at Lowe's..looks like they will work great. Thanks for the idea, had enough left over to quiet some cabinet doors.

I applied several dots to the door skin and it does help. I am still left with a streak of black that won't come off with everything I have tried. Before I paint the door, I am gonna try the peroxide/oxi clean method and see how it does. Joust waiting for a sunny say to try it

It might be easier to reskin the door interior. Also the dots work for me.

revisiting this topic. I got the black off the door with a combination of 000 Steel wool and degreaser spray. Not the super strong auto stuff, but strong enough to wipe out the black.
The silicone dots have worked perfectly to keep the skin from touching the aluminum screen door and solved the problem. Thanks for the ideas.
