New to Forum

Hi
New to the forum and looking for suggestions. Recently got a 1966 Overlander in pretty good shape overall. Hope to have pictures available soon.
It needs some work but nothing drastic that I can tell. I have the original manual and its been a help in identifying some common problems. I need a new regelulator for the water heater. Or would it be better to buy a replacement water heater? I cant seem to get the fridge to work I am assuming its low or out of Amounia?
The exterior is sound but look pretty rough with oxidation and grime in places. I was intending on cleaning and polishing but with 26 ft of trailer it seems daunting. I was wondering if taking it to the truck wash and having it done with acid wash followed by the the aluminum britener is bad idea and wishful thinking? I have heard it could have a bad affect on the windows if they are not care full and dont rinse the glass as they are doing it.
Thanks
John

John,
Welcome to the forum. You asked a lot of really good questions. I can only start with the fridge...it may need 'burping' ( remove, turn upside down, and re-install). I had several horse trailers acid washed, but I'd defer to some who has tried the airstreams...you may be correct about the windows. Stay tuned for more expert advice than I can offer. Again Welcome, keep us posted and send pictures.

Hi John and Welcome to the forums. Most people use the Napier RemovAll 220
to take the clear coat off. It sure made a world of difference on our 72 Overlander. You can get it at Vintage Trailer Supply for around 50.00. As for the fridge, does it come on at all? Ours wasnt getting cold and we couldnt figure it out. We leveled up the camper and it got cold and works great. Im sure someone will be along to answer all your questions. A lot of great people on here and always willing to help. Like one SOB dealer told me, " Airstream people are a breed of their own".. I said, Thank you!

Thanks for the info on the fridge I had thought of taking it out but got scared and didn't. I think I'll double check by leveling first going camping in a copuple of weeks. I thought it was level but wont hurt to try again before removing it.
