Window Hinge Leak Prevention Question - '68

Hello!

I'm working on restoring the windows of my '68 Ambassador. All of the glass bars have been removed, cleaned, and reassembled on the pane of glass. The last part is sliding the whole window back onto the hinge that is still on the trailer. Before doing so, I noticed that there is a gasket in there that is as hard as plastic and somewhat easy to crack or mess up.

I haven't seen this gasket anywhere and don't know how to keep the windows sealed without the gaskets being clean and all the way across.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Are the gaskets replaceable? Is there another way to prevent leaks from the hinge area? Thanks in advance!

When restoring an old Scotty Trailer I found this website invaluable for gasket material. Take a look at the link here and then call them. They were very helpful.

I went on vintagetrailergaskets.com. They are east of LA. Looks like they have the window bar gaskets for your 68. I have spoken with and ordered from these people with great results. Good luck
