Window Glass Bead with Spline

I need to re-seal the fixed glass windows in our 84 sov. The glass bead has shrunk at the corner radius of each window, pulling the spline completly out. Due to age the plastic bead has lost its flexability, and I cannot streach the plastic enough to re-enter the gap between the window frame and the glass.

Does anyone know where to find replacement glass bead that will work?

Any home improvement store. Not sure on your window, since mine are frameless, but I had to do my smoked window protectors for the same reason. The spline was huge. 1/4" in diameter. No one stocked that size. Ace did have it on their website, so I ordred it delivered to the local store for no shipping.

Measure the diameter carefully, there are about 4 different sizes.

Forget taking that window apart.

First of all, Airstream will not sell that beading.

Secondly, you can fix the problem in less than 30 minutes.

Heres how.

Carefully cut away the bad gasket. DON'T scratch the glass.

Next clean, very well, the area between the glass and metal frame, to remove any foreign material.

Then, apply a small bead of gray Sikoflex, where it barely touches the glass, completely coverng the gasket, and then barely touching the metal frame.

That fix should last at least 30 to 40 years.

Hmmm, I apparently don't understand the construction of these type of windows. Was the term spline used instead of gasket. Is this a different kind of spline than scren window/window protector spline?

Window glass bead with spline.

Wow, Thanks for the speedy replys.
To rivetmaster, just so I get this straight: Cut away the bead where it has pulled away from the corner radius and use the sikoflex as a glazing compound to fill in where the bead is now removed ? Is this correct ?

To dznfog, the window has no glazing compound, just a 1/8" triangular plastic bead with a ribbed 1/2" spline that is friction fit between the glass and the aluminum frame.

Got it, I think. Like a ribbed u channel which the glass sits in retained by a press fit triangular spline?
