It is weatherstrip adhesive. When I replaced the weatherstrip on the windows on my '76, I used the adhesive to hold the weatherstrip on to the frames as well as the factory glue. Joins were done with adhesive as well. Not a big job!

When I replaced my window gaskets, I wrapped the gasket around the glass and spring clamped it on each side of the seam. Then used a soldering iron to "weld" the two ends together.

It seems others on the forum have had no problem with there gaskets fitting correctly, but I had to make a "jig" to trim down the ribs off my gaskets because they really didn't fit. They were way too tight.

But, with a bit of Murphy's oil soap, a rubber mallet and elbow grease, we got them in.

last night I attempted to put window back together. wow that's tight. I might have to try trimming the ribs and lots of soapy water.

Besides buying new gaskets from vintage trailer gaskets.com - where can I buy this? Or is that the best bang for my buck. I have to do several windows!!

Learthman: "where can I buy this"? What is the "this" you are referring to? All you need is the gaskets from Vintage trailer gaskets (They are very helpful) and from what I see the "Airstream 1966 to 1984 vinyl glazing for 1/8" glass" is what you would need. And at $0.95 a foot, that's not a bad price. I think it comes to roughly 7 or 8 ft per window. Be sure and by extra.

Feel free to send me a private message and we can exchange emails or phone numbers, if that makes it easier.
