Vista windows need help

I'm working on my '77 Sovereign and getting ready to get windows tinted to help keep the inside temp. down. My vista windows need to be re tinted as well and I was wondering if the inner pain of glass can be removed so that I can clean them out and have access to the inside of the outer glass to apply the window tint.

Hi, welcome to the forums! Lemme help you out here before the less forgiving elders break out the pitchforks. This has been covered numerous times before (I've been guilty of starting a separate thread myself I believe). Use the search link and you'll find dozens of threads and some amazing walk throughs.

There are lots of threads on the vista views. If i was you I'd do a search and read up on them.You have the hardest year windows to deal with in my opinion. Some people break the inner pane so they can clean up the old tint and re tint. If they don't leak think about exterior tint. I just did it to my 78 Safari. Suppose to to have a 5 year life span.

This is correct, I think prior to 74 or 75 you could actually remove the inside pane without a problem Then a different type of vista view was used and the 2 panes are sealed and the only option basically is to break the inner pane as desertair said above. Its a real task from what I have learned on other threads. On my 1976 31' Sovereign with the vista views in the curve of the ceiling in the back bedroom I decided to keep the covers closed and I painted the outside glass silver (this would not work on the side mount vista views). It looks pretty good until some other solution comes along such has replacing them with new vista view units that I hear are available. Good luck and let us know what you come up with after reviewing other threads on this subject.
