Shower door falls off

We have a 2006 Safari with a single glass shower door on a pivot hinge. The problem is that the hinge does not hold and without much movement, the door wants to fall off (not good during travel, but thanks for duct tape insurance). I tighten it every day or two. Suggestions?

replace the hinges

Those nylon hinge pivots will wear out. Not sure one of these could be a replacement... but perhaps?

I rather doubt it's something you'll find at a big box hardware store, but it might be worth trying there too. A plumbing supply store, or here's a possible site.

Top and Bottom Pivot Mount Hinges

Happy trails, let us know what you do - we'll all face this sooner or later.

Ours pops out of the upper hinge. Fortunately it has not broke but I need to loosen the upper screw to re-install the pin in the hinge. Not difficult but I often think that one day the door is gonna break. Doesn't happen all the time but it only takes one time.

Not saying the door CAN'T break, but when I wrecked "Foiled Again" last June the door caved INside the shower but remained in one piece. Everything ELSE in the trayla broke! Didn't even want to touch it as I was sure it would shatter if I sneezed on it.

Styrofoam

We too tried different things but finally just cut a piece of Styrofoam to jam between the top of the door and the ceiling. I keep the foam piece under the bath sink and jam it in before we travel. I use about a six inch long piece wide enough to reach the ceiling and insert it close to the pivot pin. Low tech and works like a charm. We traveled a lot, including Alaska, without any issues since using this.

ThanX Gregg. I like that idea. Sometimes simple is better.

Interesting solutions. I placed a small stainless steel screw above the upper pin in the hinge raceway after we forgot to lock our shower door one time. No problems since.
