Screen latch

My new to me 74 argosy screen door latch does not seem correct. It does not catch. Here are a couple of pic's.
Does any anyone have a similar latch or pic's from there 70something argosy?

The black piece is factory but the white piece is not. The black piece is no longer available new, but there is a aluminum and black plastic latch available that works nicely. I know Inland RV has them.

That black latch is no longer available.

However, a latch that is also used to hold the entrance door open, is the current replacement.

The white part of your latch, is a part that's used with a later different type screen latch.

You could also just use a roller catch (used on cabinet doors etc.) to make it easier to go in/out the door. Readily available at any hardware store.

The black portion is mounted too far away from the white striker to hold the door properly closed. the black portion can be purchased but only as part of an entire cabinet latch. Cabinet Catch Assy 1971-74 Brown 201148-01 [201148-01] - $14.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

This link may give you some other options or see what Inland has available as Lumatic recommended. Door Striker- White Plastic 201246 [201246] - $1.99 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

You may find that the screen door is not properly located, making it further away from the non-hinge side than it should be.

Bending the screen door hinges to move the screen door, takes but a few seconds.
