installing a window in a door?

I have a 80 Caravelle that I would like to add a window in the door? I would like to use a round porthole and any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Don

Quicksilver?

Don't the new Quicksilver Bambi's have a round window in the door?

As long as you had a frame deep enough to go through both layers of the door, why not? I'd think a custom van shop could do it for you.... of course this is an idea that hearkens back to the '60's and 70's...... by the time I got to Woodstock we were half a million bongs!

Seen in a field for sale near Chattanooga. I saw LOTS of silicone around this one, so I wouldn't recommend their technique.

Thanks for all the input, I see in an old thread that Craig at Vintage Vacation install a round one in a Globe Trotter. I'll give him a call and see if I can get the source of the window. Thanks, Don

You've read my mind with starting this thread.

I've looked online for those windows (which are actually called "deadlights", since they don't open), but 800 bucks is a bit steep, even if it is polished bronze.

I don't plan on needing to keep seawater out of my trailer, so I think something a bit less substantial will do. Maybe I can find a shop to fabricate one.

check out my web site whdcustomrv.com for pic. of port holes. purchased from truck accessories off web less than 100.00 ea alum frame in black is only option . had to install spacer in wall to keep from caving wall in but im happy with them /I drilled and riveted with oly.rivs to keep it as don't let the fact that i own an rv shop scare you i would still much rather talk as than work.

Nice looking porthole! Do you think the dogs would hit the side of the trailer when the door is opened? It looks like they stick out a few inches.....
