How the heck do you remove the round retaining clips to remove the windows??

I have a 71 Safari and need to remove the windows to strip the gaskets and install new. The windows are locked in place with round retaining rings that are about 3/16 in diameter. How the heck are they removed. They do not have slots like regular retaining rings so they can be expanded and removed. They are more like clips that look like small washers.

Those rings are pesky. It is possible you will not be able to resuse them. To reinstall you can drill a hole through the shaft and put in a cotter pin.

To try and save the old washers, is a waste of time.

Since the arms will be removed, a very nice way to fix the issue, takes a little time, but is a "first class" fix.

Thread the window end of the window lift arm, and then install a "[B]nylon insert nut"[B/] on it to hold the lift arm into the window bracket.

Granted, cotter pins work, but they don't to much for looks, especially when they are in plain sight.
