Front window shields

Anyone else having trouble with the anchor 1/4 turn screws that hold the new window shields in the lock down position? One side of mine are either stripped out or never really caught that well. I'm afraid of them coming undone while traveling. I'd rather the same kind of anchoring they used on the rock guards. A nut on a threaded machine screw.

Any advise or options would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. I modified mine to be through bolted just like the rock guards. I drilled out the rivets that attached the rubber mount on the 1/4 turn mounts. Slipped in a machine screw. Put a washer and nut to hold the machine screw. Removed the 1/4 turn screw. Reriveted the mounts put the rock guard back on and put a locknut on to hold the rock guard. This modification has been working perfectly for 35,000 miles.

Here are pictures of how I did this modification http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...ml#post1996232

I just did the same thing here but I was lucky enough to have some old brackets which look like the rubber catch part and put a machine screw through the center. Then re riveted it back and used a lock nut. Permanent fix and stronger.
Thanks for the heads up.

I have the exact same issue, wouldn't this be covered under warranty. Would this have been a factory issue or did I do something wrong? I only unscrewed the one side to clean behind the window and could not get it to relatch. I am not sure if i want to start modifying something that is still covered, i hope?

One additional comment, i put a screw driver into the locking side and instead of being fixed in position they spin, which means they would never lock, I am not sure if this is normal operation? I was afraid to unlock the other side to find out!!!

That's the problem I had. Mines never been on the road except 50 miles to get her home. So I figure if you claim warranty I'd bet they'd just put the same thing on. Problem not solved. That's why I changed mine out.

I recently was at the factory for a service prior to warranty expiration. Tech checked mine because of concerns. One half hour down the road I see the rock guard in my rear view mirror dancing in the wind. Fast forward factory sent me a new rock guard screws already in place and a second set of screw/fasteners with a little more length. My 2017 Flyingcloud needs the longer fasteners. The other option may be to remove some of the bushing thus changing the depth and allowing better grip of fastener.

That was my first thought that the screws were not long enough and weren't catching. I am relatively strong but was still unable to make the screws latch. Is it normal operation for the anchors to spin? (I inserted a screw driver and was able to so spin both of the them) I was afraid to open the other side, just incase i was doing something wrong!!!
