I am trying to figure out where some window leaks are coming from. I have a big fixed window the the right of the door. The outer frame has been sealed to the skin. It appears the interface between the window and the frame is leaking.

I don't have a clear picture of how all the layers fit together. I wrongfully assumed that if the window was leaking between the frame that I would see water running down the inside of the wall. Do the engineers at Airsteam sit up at night dreaming of new ways to create leaks that you can't see?

There is some sort of plastic trim between the frame and the window on the outside. It is coming out and has shrunk in places. Should I pull it all the way out and replace it with Vulkem or what? There is water between the panes but I am not worried about that right this minute. I want the water to stop getting inside the skin and dribbling out the wall subfloor interface (bottom of the C-channel).

I responded on the other post and then saw this one. I realize now exactly which type window you are talking about. Sounds just like the one my '72. I wouldn't pull out that seal even though it has shrunk some. I have sealed mine around that whole area before with Vulcum and it worked. Taped it off and put a thin layer all way around. Since it's raining you might want to just do the worst of it for now and see if it works.

Some say Vulcum won't stick in the rain but it has before for me. Use your finger to push some of it down into the crack or where the seal is pulled away from the glass/frame. Worth a try. Still stand by the body seam thing also.
