Creation window weatherstripping 2000 Safari

Hello All!

I've just purchased my first Airstream for my family of 4. (2000 Safari 27') Unfortunately it has remained outside for most of it's life. Much of the weatherstripping, including the window glazing, has shrunk and is pulling out of it channel. I attempted to search the forum without much luck. (keep in mind I'm a newbie, so it may be user-error) Where can I find the replacement weatherstripping? There appears to be 3 different types of weatherstripping. 1--window glazing. 2--a seal that the closed window rests against. 3-- a seal that pops down into the track. I'm having the most difficulty locating #3. I also fail to see the purpose of #3.
I'm also attaching a photo of the window glazing "shrinkage" How much is acceptable? Does the glazing just primarily hold the window in, or does it prevent leaks?
Any advice or knowledge is appreciated!

Creation windows went out of business. ParKin, Inc. bought out most of their stuff. Check this site as they do have various parts. Also some of the parts used on the similar and more common Hehr brand windows will work. I am currently working on "jury rigging" a Hehr window operator on one of my Creation windows.

I gave them a call a few weeks ago. They were out of stock on weatherstripping. Another member "AW of NC" suggested I call Out of Doors Mart. They do not stock the stuff, but called Airstream to see what they had in stock. I received a parts list with diagrams back, but they said they only had a portion of what I needed. About a week later, I called Inland RV hoping they had some stock. They do not stock either, but called airstream and they had the weather stripping in stock! So this tells me that Airstream has a supplier.
For future users... Glazing Vinyl 371593-711... plastic sash seal 371593-713... I have additional part numbers if needed. Thanks for the reply Soyboy

Thanks for the update. I know that some guys have been using this too. I ordered some from Amazon the other day, I'll have it tomorrow and will see how it works out. I know that Out of Doors Mart also carries it too. Instead of being "flat" like the Creation style seal, it is a D shaped seal with a hollow center.

Show part #s next to photo ???

Thanks for sharing the info you have and lending some hope for those of us who also have Creation windows. I have 2 creation windows remaining on a trailer and have never been able to find what I think you are referring to as #3. There have been many posters over the years who have been on the same search for these seals. With that idea in mind, if you can, would you please pair up part numbers next to the picture of the seal that it matches??

That would really be a service to all of us who have long searched for that info. I have replaced 2 windows already, partly due to no parts being available. Any inquiries that I have made in the past to Airstream didn't get the same answers as you did. Armed with the actual part number should make it much easier.

In the meantime, I keep those seals that pop up on the corners well lubricated with silicone spray and shape them back down as well as they will go. I have managed to keep them from leaking doing this. Replacement of the seal is the ultimate, of course.

Thanks much......... 2 Creation windows remaining.

Here is a link to another thread with someone else's experience in re-weatherstripping Creation windows. And another thread.....

BTW, and a bit off topic, if you ever twist off one of the window operator knobs and break the shaft, here is some info about a replacement (the Creation operators are not available...anywhere....believe me I have looked LOL). I haven't finished the install as the Hehr operator is requiring a bit of modification to the bottom profile that fits the window frame. I have it working, but it's not riveted in yet. Hopefully soon, then I will update that thread (I started this process over a year ago LOL).

Soyboy,

In my search for answers and sources, I assure you there is probably not a word in the forum files that I have not read about Creation windows. Thankfully, I have no problems with the operators and can manage suitable substitutes for all of the weatherstripping except for the part that comes up out of the rounded body of the window.

That part is shown in the first 2 photos, in the bottom right and bottom left corners of post #1. If I could get my hands on enuf to do my 2 windows it would be a happy day.
Best of luck with your project with the operators.

Ok, this is a portion of an email that I had received from Out of Doors Mart. (Don Ross, if I remember correctly) Either way, they called Airstream and they were out of stock. I ordered from Inland RV and they had the gaskets drop shipped directly from Airstream. The new gaskets are great and very supple!
AW of NC is to receive the thanks! He lead me in the right direction and has been extremely helpful!

Hope this helps. Thanks for the additional posts and info received from everyone!

I started thinking about the material I received. I have not installed any of it yet.

Upon closer inspection, it has some slight variances. See the attached photos. In each photo, the new material is to the left and old is to the right.

The glazing (371593-711) was 1.89 per lf
Window Seal (371593-713/ round with flat top.) 2.19 per lf
Foam has been replaced with.... 365214. it is .95 per lf. I didn't order any of it.

I ordered 40 lf of glazing, and 32 lf of Seal. This should be enough to do all windows.

Drop shipping wasn't cheap so I would ask for other alternatives. I think drop shipping cost me $30+ but I also ordered some grease seals and some trempro.

Thanks for the pics and info. It's all very helpful. I don't have any leaks with the glazing. I just need to seal around the rear "fire escape" swing out window opening on mine, and replace the "shrinking" seals around the crank out window openings, which are pulling away like the ones in the pics that SC originally posted. I think the bulb type I ordered will work for both of those, but we'll see. You are right about Out of Doors Mart, they have always been very helpful to me too.

SC ,

The above is the part that I have never been able to find. The other is commonly available and I have replaced that. The seal you received is a bit different from what's on the window so I do wonder if it will work. Guess the only way to find out is to order some and give it a try. Please report back with your results also.

Other than this seal, the 2 windows I have left are in good shape and work well. Thanks much for posting the diagram and photos of the material. Still many of these things out there so beneficial to a lot of folks.

Here is some generic seals that might be worth a try if you have exhausted all other options.

Just an update about the 2 photos of the weather stripping that I took.

In regards to the top photo of the weatherstripping that consists of a circle with a flat top, The photo on the left is the new stripping. It is the correct stripping and works on all windows. The right photo was of a section that I removed from the emergency escape hatch on the rear. For some reason that weatherstripping has the slightly different profile.

The glazing is a bear to install. It is chunkier and doesn't install well. I really don't suggest spending your money on it. It really doesn't appear to prevent water intrusion as much as it just appears to keep the glass in place.

SC,
Wanted to say thanks again for helping me out with the window seal, circle with flat top. When I installed the new stuff, I found there were different styles of this in my windows just as you found in yours but it fits all and works well.
As for the glazing, it does take some doing to get it in correctly. I used WD-40 and/or silicone spray when I put it in. Luckily none of it leaks.
