Classic Step is Stuck!!

All of a sudden, my step is stuck in the "up" position. I sprayed WD on every junction, kicked it a couple of times and even crawled under to see where it might be stuck. No luck. When i pull the lever i notice that the step isn't resting on the catch. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried pushing it up and letting it fall back?

Somebody, please, point me to the road.
