6' x 3' Serving Window
I am a metal fabricator in California, typically I do architectural work but I've taken on a job modifying a 68' Trade Wind. The client would like to make the two center windows on the drivers side into a 72" x 36" serving window for his ice cream business. I could use some tips on how to do this right, I have learned a lot looking around on this amazing forum, I'll be sure to post some progress shots and share what I learn along the way.
The attached photo shows the area I'd like to modify lined in blue tape. This process would remove two of the u channel studs, I plane on cutting it back to the studs closest to where we want it and first framing the opening in 6063 AL.
From here I'd build the fixed window frame, and then fabricate the window.
Am I on the right path? Does the frame need further re-enforcement? Any tips much appreciated.
