1968 Safari Window Clips

I am a bit baffled by the window clips on the 1968 Safari. I would think they would point up to grab the bottom of the window and pull it in. Instead, they all point down.

Does anyone have a picture of a window using this clip? I think I have read that pull in a bevel on the special curved glass used in those years.

Thanks!

I don't have a picture right now... but the bend on the "clip" that extends via the crank should point down so that it grabs the "clip" that is on the bottom edge of the window.

Here is a crude sketch...

You might be missing the window clips. AS used steel that tends to rust and break off. Take a look at these from Vintage Trailer Supply.

When I installed my new window clips, I found that I needed to gently crimp them. I tend to "over fix" things and even cut out small pieces of rubber (that you can't easily see) and glued them inside the clips so that they would grasp the windows better.
