That door can usually be rebuilt by someone that's been around Airstream's for a while.

The 64 doors were basically built on the trailer, making it difficult to find a used door that will properly fit.

But, an undamaged door can be reshaped to fit your Airstream.

I took a door off of a 1964 Overlander and mounted it on the rear of a 1964 Sovereign creating a double door trailer. The second door actually closed better than the trailers original.

The difficulty is that the 64 door is unique to all the door with in the door trailers. It has an inset door and the door within is also inset. This gave a look of everything being flush. Previously the door was an overlay door.

Suicide is suicide, one is enough.

But...........a double suicide, .................."door" that is.

Just kidding.

Frank, looks very good.

Also, we have found in the past, that the curb side front window area is very weak. Accordingly, we have added addition main bows and stringers in that area, that seems to have solved the weakness issue.

275 miles from your place to Baltimore. Not too far to go to get your door fixed by a professional in my opinion. Who knows you might want to get some more work done while you're there.
I can personally vouch for the work Frank does. He has worked on one of my trailers and will be doing total redos on three of them.

What Chris said...

I agree with Chris and we can vouch for the quality of Franks work.

But as with everything else Airstream... some clever hinge-switching has been done too.

Why not just build a door from scratch then? Anyone clever enough can do it. Anything is possible.
