Update 4
4th Update,
Problem definitely seems to be a crack in the input line. This vintage trailer used the hard plastic lines with brass 90 degree fittings that are held in place with what appears to be a steel band. I see no way remove those bands.....any ideas out there?

Ah, gray polybutyl lines I bet. I use a Dremel tool with a cut off disk to cut the bands. The bands are generally a copper alloy material but look dark like steel.

My 86 has polybutyl lines also. There are PEX to Poly fittings that you might find easier to make the inlet line repair. I use them so I don't have to buy two different types of crimping tools. They also make "shark bite" type "push to connect" or PTC fittings that seal on the OD of the poly to PEX tubes. I have used those also. See one on the left in this crummy photo. It has been there three years and about 10,000 miles.

Update #5: Finally able to replace the line from the FW tank to the pump with no leaks! Water system working somewhat. Very pulsating water stream from facets and pump does not shut off but it looks like no air leak up to the filter. After the pump is turned off the water on the input side retracts to the FW tank. Still need to eliminate filter because running antifreeze thru the pump seems really good. Hopefully I'll have a final update in two days. Thanks to EVERYONE for your help! Airstreamers are great!

Jim I followed this for a while. Let me know if you need some help. I have the same trailer down in Salida. Maybe we could start a support group!

Jim, thanks for the closure on this one. Wow, you changed a lot of parts! Any idea which one was the biggest contributor to the problem? Maybe that new pump was defective some how and you replacing it made all the difference? Maybe it wasn't the inlet line at all.

I think there were multiple problems but the main culprit was a split line. I'm guessing it may have split during winterization, but don't know for sure.
