Water filter leaking on new airstream

We have a 2016 28 ft and developed a leak around the water filter under the sink last year. Dealer in Seattle repaired. Now while on a 3 month trip it continues to leak. It started about a week after we left. We have tried repairs without success....removed filter....still leaks....have used plumber silicone tape on fittings still leaks. Anyone having or have had this problem? Solutions appreciated as we won't be home for another month.thanks

If somebody has cross threaded the fittings, the only real answer is to replace them. That may involve a bit of work. The common "fix" is to get a bigger wrench to tighten the fittings ...

After about a year of ownership I decided to remove the inline water filter and put back in the straight pipe. With the sink in the way, which I didn't really want to remove, it was very difficult to get to the connection in the back. Someone on this forum pointed me to the appropriate tool, a basin wrench, which finally allowed me to properly tighten that connection. Where is yours leaking?

Yes. Took it out completely. We use a Britta pitcher for drinking water.

Had same issue, leaks from filter and straight pipe. Had plumber cut out unnecessary piping and replace fitting with simple pex connector. Much cleaner under the sink and no more leaks.

I had the same problem with our new '16 Flying Cloud. The filter under the sink leaked mostly when traveling, so I turned the pump off when we were on the road. When i winterized with the straight pipe, I noticed that there were two rubber washers, but only one in the water filter. I guess the dealer lost a washer when he installed the water filter. You might check for the two washers on your filter, it solved my leak.

I agree with above. Check for the rubber washers. I picked up my Airstream in in the month of January and had the dealer winterize it beofre I pulled off the lot after they showed all systems working properly. They put in the straight tube. I had problems with that leaking until I figured out the washer was missing on one end.

A simple washer and never a problem again.

Had similar problem on our new 28' this summer, after I installed a filter under the sink to the cold water line. Wife noticed water occasionally under the sink, but we could not figure where it was coming from. Found out on a camp trip last month, it only happened when we used "city water" hookup, which was higher pressure then using the pump. After trying to tighten a few times, I just took it apart, and found it was cross threaded and was not making good contact with the washer inside...I was able to re-install and tighten using a towel around the connections while turning so I could get more leverage. I was going to use a wrench, but did not need. No issues now.

Plain old petroleum jelly on the washer and inside the fitting where the mating surfaces meet. Teflon on threads is not the pressure boundary.

My 25'er filter under the sink was cross threaded. Got the threads engaged properly, and tightened. No leaks.
My 30footer, no leaks. Everything is fine.

I appreciate the mention of a basin wrench, which has now become something I will buy as soon as I can get to a Home Depot! We are also leaking slightly from the back (unreachable) end of the water filter. I was wondering if it was just my klutziness that couldn't figure out how to reach back there. Why would Airstream put that connection there instead of 2" farther along the line? Anyway, are there other good workarounds for getting that off or does everyone have a basin wrench? We are on our first camping trip and getting a leak. Thanks, All!

Is there a replacement washer for the washers or is this a specified Airstream part?
