Sudden Loud Noise - What is it?
A sudden vibration noise happened just now in our Classic trailer in the bathroom. When we opened the bathroom cabinet door, it was especially loud there. We checked everything outside and could find nothing that might be making that noise.
We're currently parked at an RV site. The noise stopped after a few minutes. It's quiet now.
Any idea what might have caused this sudden noise? At the time it happened, we were nowhere near the bathroom or kitchen sink.
We appreciate your thoughts on what might be causing this.
Thank you.

The description sounds like the water pump came on, as it will if the switch is on and the system water pressure drops below a preset pressure. Even if hooked to campground water. Is the water pump switch on?
Although it shouldn't stay on for a few minutes, unless there is a faucet open slightly, underbody drain open, possible leak?

Thanks dkottum, I appreciate the explanation. That makes sense. All is well now, the noise hasn't happened again.
Oh and yes, the water pump was on. Crossing my fingers it won't happen again.
Thanks!

In the morning take a good look underneath and see if there are any visible leaks, just as a precaution. Leave the pump switch off when hooked to campground water.
If it repeatedly comes on there may be a leak in the system, or the check valve to the fresh water tank may be sticking open a little so the water runs back into the tank. I suppose if the pump is on, the check valve failing, and the campground water hooked up you could be overfilling the fresh water tank, I don't think that's good.

Im speculating here, but if the water tank is almost empty, it may take the water pump much longer than usual to reach full pressure. In our Classic, I dont believe the city water supply adds water to the fresh water tank, so if the tank was near empty and the pump switch was on while using city water, perhaps that was the cause of the longgggggg noise. What does the tank monitor show for the fresh water tank level?

dkottum, we did check for leaks this morning and saw nothing. The noise didn't happen again the rest of the evening.
phann, that's a good point. I do recall the fresh water tank was almost empty.
We're home again now, but we're heading out again tomorrow for a week. We're going to keep an eye on the tank and hope the noise doesn't happen again.
Thanks Again!!

I recommend you add some fresh water to your tank while at home. I like to have at least half a tank or more on hand - just in case. Plus, if you have reasonably good city water at home, you'll get some chlorine back in the system to keep the microbes in check; and if you turn on your water pump again, it wont stay on for long.
Have a fun trip! We are leaving on Tuesday for a 4 month excursion.
