Shur-flo water pump cycles on and off

On my 2010, the water pump cycles on for about 1 to 2 seconds every 5 minutes. City water is disconnected, air has been carefully purged from all lines and water heater, and I have hunted for leaks and found nothing. I'll be adding this to the warranty cut list, but in the mean time, any suggestions on what else to look for are appreciated!

What he said. I'd be leaning towards a slight leak, it does not take much to have the pump "make-up".
Have you looked at the area around the pump with a flashlight?

Yep, checked the pump, under shower, bath vanity, galley, water heater, outdoor shower. No signs of leaky sink, shower, or toilet valve. No signs of leak thru belly pan. Perhaps a pinhole leak in the pex somewhere, but with the pump running so often, I would think i'd be able to spot water accumulating somewhere.... Is it possible that the pressure is bleeding off back thru the pump?

Check the water heater blow off and drain plug.

Did you make sure the clear screw-on cap on this was tight? It is just before the pump and has been a cause of the same problem in our trailer.

Yes. The internal check valve could be dirty or have gone bad.

Hope you can help our pump problem also!? Our pump continually 'spits air' like there is air in the system...only happens when using the pump. Pump doesn't cycle on & off...just spits air. Had it at the AS Facotry last summer & they say is 'fixed' but not true. Any advice? Thanks!

@2Tex; Sounds like you have a leak on the input side of the pump. It is sucking air as well as water. It could be the inline filter or fittings where the hoses connect.
In regards to the first post; since you can't find any leaks. I think the internal check valve in the pump may have junk in it or calcium build up that prevents it from closing off completely. It may have just failed.
You can get an inline check valve and install it instead off replacing the pump.

I had manufacturing debris stuck in my first pump. It made it past the filter and got stuck in one of the valves of the pump. The pump was replaced under warranty.

There is a check valve in the pump head. A little debri can allow water to seep back into the tank, thus no apparent leak. Often with a little use the problem will clear itself, particularly if you don't use the pump a lot.
Usually on our first trip of the year the problem appears and then disappears in a day or two.
Repair parts are available if needed

I had this problem when I added a short piece of sink tubing just before the filter. The manual said maximum length from tank should be no more than six feet, evidently that made it over that length.
