Sewer Hose Hook Up Problems
We purchased a 1994 35' Excella last year. Just got it to the campground to set her up after changing to a hardwood floor and replacing the upholstery, and a complete detail. Trying to hook up the new sewer drain hose, and the standard connector from the tank was slightly larger than a normal hose connection. Couldn't hook it up. We have have never had an issue with the diameter of the hose connector before on previous trailers/ motorhomes. I was assuming this was a standard size. Anyone ever run into this situation? Didn't know if it was a different connector because the trailer is 21 years old.
Any ideas?

The stock fittings are Thetford, which is different than what most other trailers have. You will have to get the Thetford hose ends at an RV store or order them. Good luck, Chris

There are "step down" adapters that snap on to take it from a Thetford to a Valterra.

Sewer Hose
Thanks for the replies!
I'm new to using a forum, but not too old to learn.
There is a camping world store in Harrisburg, Pa that I will hit tomorrow morning.
Your help is much appreciated. I'm finding that campers are the same as the boating community. Doesn't matter what your station in life is, everyone is helpful!
Thanks again!

Get an extra Thetford to Valterra adapter while you're there. They break sometimes, and a spare might be good to have.

I took a saw to the sewer line just behind the Thetford end connector. I little glue and a new "regular" bayonet fitting and the Thetford connector problems are gone for ever. Any decent RV parts house or Home Depot/Lowes store will have all you need.

buy a couple of the Valterra/Thetford adapters. The little gasket tends to come unglued and you lose it.. then you have leaks.. then you LOSE IT! DAMHIK..

You can also purchase a small package of Xtra gaskets for the adaptor fitting. I went that route for awhile after I lost a gasket and had the leaks. Last summer I found a proper Valterra fitting and cut the old one off and installed it. Now everything fits.
