Replacing old platform toilet with "regular" toilet?

In the remo of our 1993 Excella 25' I find the bathroom so tiny and I hate the toilet that is mounted on that kooky platform. Husband says the platform stays because of the flange that is part of the black water tank. It comes out at an angle and evidently will not accommodate a toilet which is tall enough without the platform due to clearance issues (whatever!).

Can you modify the tank to accept a regular toilet? Anyone try this already?
Is the platform toilet my fate?

Sharon

In all the Airstreams and Argosy's I have had with the short "Platform" toilet, the black water tank is/was directly under the toilet and that put the black water tank above the floor. Without major renovations of where the tanks are placed, and all the plumbing associated with the draining of them, I would speculate that you are simply stuck with that platform configuration. Sorry.

The platform is why Thetford makes a low profile Galaxie toilet. I couldn't stand the crummy plastic toilet and put a regular Thetford toilet in my 25 ft. Safari with a platform. I am 6'6" and only my toes touch. My wife is shorter and her feet dangle. Which is worse, dangling feet or a crummy plastic John?

You don't have a "platform toilet" you have a "low profile toilet" sitting on top of your black water holding tank.It is designed that way. Your bathroom is literally built on top and around your holding tank.
