Relocating the bathroom?

Our new old 1968 Overlander is gutted so we have a clean slate. I would like to have a permanent bedroom at the rear where the bathroom would have been. Would like to have it as a shower, sink, and toilet forward of the bedroom street side. Wondering what difficulties might be encountered in a relocation. I know I know there is the wheel well to consider

Hello from Colorado: You have a big project well on its way. The new floor covering looks nice. I assume the subfloor looks just as nice.

I consider a bathroom relocation the biggest remodeling project. There are many design considerations. I've not relocated a bath, but I have built a new rear bath in a 66 Trade Wind. Our 86 Limited has a center bath over the wheel well. I think most newer Airstreams have a center bath.

Our 86 Limited bath is built over the wheel well. The shower has a "bench seat" over the wheel well and then the shower pan inside of the frame rail. The shower is a ABS molded piece. The toilet is inside the frame rail. The sink and vanity are over the wheel well. The gray tank is under the shower, and the black tank is under the toilet. I think it is a pretty good layout.

Some newer Airstreams have a vanity sink and toilet on one side of the aisle, and the shower on the other. This allows for a bigger bath space. Our 86 Limited has the wardrobe closets opposite side of the bath, again over the wheel wells.

Location of the toilet is key as that determines the location of the black tank. Gray tank locations are more flexible. Both tanks need a drain plan, both tanks need a vent stack. My 86 Limited drains street side of course, just behind the rear axle.

And the cabinet making is quite extensive. Bulkhead walls, vanity, overhead lockers, storage cabinets, etc. need fabricated.

Airstream.com archives floorplans may give you some ideas on what you might like.
